I'm wondering that if the body and lens of the fixed Scarlet can be bought for 3000$ and the "kit" to make it work(some sort of screen/battery/CF module of some kind/controls) is extra 750$, would it be possible to take an s35 Scarlet brain and use that 750$ kit to make it work?? Has anybody thought of this or has this been spoken of ? Would be cool if you could get an s35 body with the same rudimentary kit and start shooting with whatever manual 35mm glass. Would be the easiest way by far glass-wise.

From what I have seen, I have been assuming that the "kit" is enough to get it up and running as a still camera. You would need addition pylons--er, modules and stuff, to get it recording video.

Well that would be a major disappointment. I've always understood that for the 3750$ you're gonna get an 8x scarlet ready to shoot out of the box, be it video or stills.
Still the question remains, is the 750$ starter kit something you can get without the 8x Scarlet and would it possibly work with some of the other brains?

Just wondering what would be the minimal starting bet to get an s35 Scarlet up and running, as the amount of manual photo glass out there does make the s35 standard a lot more appealing than 2/3" where one would be stuck with an 8x lens and limited DOF or being stuck with either extremely expensive pro lens or very little choice in older 16mm lens.

And where did you look? The Kit should be able to make the Scarlet work "out of the box". Not sure if the Kit is only available together with the Fixed, but I think so.
