  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Interview- shot on MX

I think all this crossing the line stuff is just common sense. cuts need to feel right smooth transitions, beats :)

Come on now! Acting is great, but this edit is not competent and camera blocking/lighting etc are totally sub par, even by student film standards. You break rules for a reason, not just to be "creative".

Go to film school. Call us after you graduate.

Critique the piece all you want, personal attacks are childish.

I did consider the cut to be fairly distracting, not just for the line jumps, but some of the jumps in performance/expressions/audio, etc...though a second watch and more intent focus on the dialogue and facial expressions yielded something to enjoy. Those head slams were very realistic!

You may not want to go back and touch the footage, but it may be worth your while to tidy up the cut and flip the young guy's shots, just to see if staying on the same line smoothes things out somewhat. I personally think it'd be worth it, because there are lots of great expressions and performance bits in there...sucks to have those elements overshadowed by technical issues.

On a side note, I like the idea behind the Legendary Scenes group...getting together to shoot mini scenes, coming away with some gems without the effort or cost of pulling together a proper short...good to keep exercising the muscles and technique.

Cheers,
Clint

Thanks for the suggestion. It didn't even cross my mind to flip some of the video to avoid crossing the line. After realizing it was salvageable I went ahead and cleaned it up a bit.

Thanks again.
