I just had a conversation with Jacek by email right now, he was quick to get back to me and I got all the info I needed
 
I've emailed him before about price and got no response, there's nothing stopping someone else from listing the price here, what is it
 
So what is the status of the OptiTron2? It's been quiet a long time now and we really need an update. When is shipping planned and when do we get the updated video with a complete overview?
 
Shipping now- we are out of wireless receivers at the moment-all sold. There is a bit of a lapse with the Rx because I redesigned the board and the box to be even smaller. In the machine shop at this time ;-) You can always buy the OT2 now and get the Rx later. It takes few seconds to sync...
 
I think a lot of people are interested but aren't really sure about this products potential. I would recommend to do a shoot where you show it off in practice, first behind the scenes showing the OptiTron2 rigged and the scene, like a person walking towards the camera and then the clip from the Red camera showing the result. I think this product is the best thing available for Canon mounts and for work with gimbals it is a very much needed accessory, but I think people need to see a little more of it.

Also, if it's shipping now, is it possible to perhaps do a group buy?

It works like a mechanical/remote follow focus and everyone should be pretty familiar with it since they purchased a $50K or so of camera gear.
There is really no mystery here - just typical high end cine gear. If you used preston this will feel the same - only it''s smaller lighter and a lot easier and quicker to set up. I don't see what else a video could show...
We will get into more details on different aspects /features pretty soon with new videos..
 
I would like to see a group buy of the Red OptiTron2, is that something you might have any interest in?

Your video is fine actually... what we need is more concrete information....even a simple PDF on your website that has basic specs as in sizes/dimension, price, pictures, how to order etc.... I understand you may not want to advertise here...but you really should at least have this info on your website. (It was the same problem with Optitron 1.)
Also do you think there is any way to have the wireless receiver be self powered with a small battery? (or even usb battery) trying to avoid using a Dtap cable since when using the camera on a gimbal we will not be using the vmount battery...
 
What is it about the GB that's so appealing? It won't have some tremendous savings- there just isn't enough profit there..

Depends on the profit and how many that engage. For you it would mean a lot of guaranteed units sold at once which could boost sells and further advancements. But it was only a suggestion cause there seem to be a lot of popular group buys going on here at Reduser, in the end it's your call.
