  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The industry has finally engaged...

Canon donations accepted every year.

Minimum 100% of what you paid for the last product with maybe a 5 to 10 pixels more and possibly a firmware upgrade. :rofl:

Your tech support is in USA, Canon tech support is in your country. Like I said, if you use RED and something gets broken, you send it to USA and wait. If you need to buy accesories etc you might end up waiting months in back order. With lower budget one camera productions this can be disaster.

I dont think he means better features, I think he was just trying to prove that Canon will always make a lot more models compared to RED.
I also think that the 7D, 60D, 600D, 550D can all be compared when it comes to features/price they're all in the same market.
 
Canon makes good still cameras and lenses.

Maybe some day they will take off the 2k training wheels and step in the ring.

Until then... great still cams and lenses.

WE DONT HAVE CANON TECH SUPPORT! I send my 5D to Dubai for some spare parts and got it 2 weeks later. I understand that this isnt the issue in your country but it is in mine.
 
Hope Canon does better Thursday than the Japanese Yen did today.

I've always felt my invest was better protected buying Red. Canon and others seem to think its okay to coast to the finish line with their incremental development curve. Red moves the finish line so far ahead, I have no doubt that the camera that I get from Red will be protected from premature irrelevance. Maybe the industry will change how they position their development schedule in the future, but I haven't seen it yet.

How does crop sensor camera make FF sensor camera obsolete? Does the old camera stop working after new is released? They are all from different price range and have different features. 550D and 600D cost like 600€. My 5D MKII costed 2500€ and I can still get over 1500€ from it, and it's 3 years old.

Good try but even better fail.

I don't know about totally different... But I completely agree with you. I doubt Scarlet would encroach on the Epic market. If Scarlet is everything Jim is making it out to be, then I'm betting most every Epic owner will want a Scarlet too.

Ok. Things might and obvisously work differently in Africa. Still, you can get accesories and other stuff from local stores or even buy new camera if the production would be delayed and sell it afterwards, or rent one.

You want a Canon, buy their product, it won't compete with Scarlet, you know why? ITS NOT A SCARLET.

About Red One MX... I wouldn't think for a second if we needed to roll on a few more cameras and we couldn't afford EPICs.

That is an other very nice thing about RED today. You can get gorgeous 4.5k at insanely low rental/ownership costs on the same MX "stock".

If this is the case, I bet Nov 3rd will lean heavily towards Scarlet.

And remember that Canon's 2k will most likely not be RAW, and most likely also be a WAY bigger file size than Scarlet's 3k.

REDCODE is a big deal. Huge.

Why you get so angry suddenly? For the reason that I proved your comment false?

So cameras aren't competing against each other now? I thought that's what Jim has been saying all year. Canon vs RED.

I will get EPIC if no other camera shoots 200fps next year at the same price/quality level.

Canon's new camera will have PL mount option.
