The "I got it!" Thread

But let's face it : most of Scarlet-X users won't do nothing for the silver screen with it. This is a (rich) prosumer-hobbyists-wedding photographs Scarlet-X board here.

We'll have few test videos on Vimeo and almost nothing on big screens. Let's see in one year... ;)

I'm not sure why so many are seeing it this way: I plan on shooting commercial work and most importantly feature film work on 4K specifically for theatrical release. Since so much stuff doesn't go to the big screen who knows, but honestly unless you need high speed shots and I don't, the Scarlet X is completely the same camera (90%) when shooting at 24 fps. What is so hard to figure out about this.

The fact that you have the ability of the same latitude as the Epic, and can virtually get the same image quality off the sensor and using 4K of the sensor should vignette less Super 35mm lenses since it is closer to an actual Super 35 frame at 4 k (5 K is stated to be a bit larger) this camera is the top dog in my opinion. Epic can do a few things better, but the cost is so much more. This camera is completely ready for cinema based on the specs they have shown.

Terry you seem to me from allot of your posts you seem to like to stir up problems up where there is no problems, always nit picking at ppl and acting as a moderater of sorts, just my opinion, doesn't seem very nice even as subtle as you do it, but hey it's your right to be annoying if you want...

Funny - that "annoying" thing, i noticed that about you; just wasn't going to say anything. lol

I this case, I guess Jeffrey agrees with me as well - seems like replicating another thread that hasn't even been posted in yet is kind of it's own silly way of drawing attention to yourself. If I put yet another "tell us when it arrives" thread and 6 more people did the same, what benefit would it serve?

EDIT: And thanks for the support guys. I am not at all here to "stir things up" but I do have opinions which I am willing to express. Maybe my biggest lament is how I have observed for the last 2+ years that the etiquette of posting here has sort of become a Facebook/Twitter "tell us every thought that passes through your mind" kind of place. Twitter is great for that; REDuser, not so much.

Hi Terry! I had absolutely no problem at all with your first post targeted to me in this thread. I've seen you post around the forum before, and you always seem to be giving useful information to people. I've always considered you as a very helpful user in the forum. However, I do indeed have a problem with your last post. Mainly the part about replicating a thread to attract attention to myself. In fact, I find that statement to be unacceptable. Terry, do you know why people try to attract attention to themselves? It's because their not very special. Their so 'average' and have so little to offer to the world, that they need to manufacture ways (like replicating threads on forums) in order to attract attention to themselves. So, to get to my point, I will state that you are incorrect in assuming that I replicated a thread in order to attract attention to myself. I do not need to attract attention in order to get attention. To be quite honest with you, attention comes automatically. I've found that if an individual has a kind and respectful attitude, a high level of knowledge about various topics and a will to try and experiment with things, people will notice. And, again, attention will come by itself. Of course, when that individual is 17 years old, the amount of attention received is multiplied. However, just for your information, if I were attempting to intentionally attract attention to myself, there are quite a few other ways I have of doing so. Duplicating a thread on a forum is not one of them.

So, if you'd like to know the true reason why I started this thread, allow me to explain. If you'll look back at that other thread, you'll notice that the title is "Who has received scarlet x." Yet, you'll notice that the thread is full of replies from people who have not received their Scarlets. It's just a free discussion of delivery dates and shipping info... Terry, why do you think I waited until the day Scarlet shipped to start my thread? Because I wanted only people who received their Scarlets to post in the thread. However, there were people like you you just had to start a discussion about duplicate threads because you just could not stand by and watch. Now, this thread is just like the other. Full of replies having to do with an irrelevant discussion, instead of people who received their Scarlet. All started by one unrelated reply informing me that someone already 'beat me to it'. Perhaps that person was trying to attract attention?

There are a lot of very important people (including people at RED) that may be reading this thread right now who's opinions of me are those that I care about. I do not want to affect my reputation to those people just because I'm trying to send you a message. Therefore, this is all I'll say for now. However, I ask that you please refrain from making assumptions like this in the future. Do not think other people are in the same boat you're in. I've tried to write my message as respectfully as possible while still making sure I get my point across to you. I hope you got it.

Have a fabulous day! ;)

Brian. I think you're over-reacting a little. Post's like this kind of enforce the point Terry was making. My advice? Send him a PM rather than publicly de-railing a thread with a rant and disagreement. I'm not saying your posting like this to get attention, but it will certainly grab it.

Scarlets are shipping. Lets stay on that.

1. You are correct, I am indeed overreacting.
2. How ironic is it that you're telling me that I'm derailing this thread and that I should stay on topic? Are you forgetting that your first post in this thread had nothing to do with Scarlets shipping, but instead was a statement reinforcing Terry's point that this is a duplicate thread? Your memory is short. Allow me to remind you:

I was about to say this as well. Search bars do wonderful things guys. Moderators have mentioned multiple times...it's nice to actually beable to read through content with what little time some of us have on RU:wink5:

Does that help?

Brian, thou dost protest too much, methinks! :seeya:

You do realize how ridiculous your statement is, right? You were the first to derail this thread. Your first post had nothing to do with Scarlets. Perhaps you're forgetting also?

I see nothing having to do with Scarlets shipping in that post... If it weren't for you wanting to tell me that this was duplicate thread, we wouldn't be having this discussion right now. I've never had to point fingers before, but, you started this.

Just for your information, if I know for a fact that I'm correct and that you're wrong, I will take whatever steps are necessary to prove that I'm right. In this case, it required five paragraphs across two posts.

Now, if both you and Jeffrey are serious about not wanting to derail this thread any further, your next posts here (if you do even decide to post again in this thread) will have nothing to do with this discussion, but will instead be regarding people receiving their Scarlets. I highly, highly suggest that you do not carry on this discussion any further.

Again, I hope you both have a fabulous day!

I like the idea of a 17 yr. old taking the initiative and starting his own posts... I do not like the idea of everyone kicking him around because he didn't do it just exactly right... Come on guys, this 17 year old is going to be the next Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, Ron Howard, M. Night Shyamalan, Peter Jackson... and so on.

Wow, it's a little scary how good this kid's English is...Brian, don't worry about these other people on the forums like Terry they're probably just jealous that your 17 and know so much. I've read some of your posts in a thread about computers for Scarlet. The tech people at the place I work don't sound like they know as much as you do. Hopefully we can start seeing some posts here about people getting scarlets and not get offtrack again by terry and jeffray

So true I find her (or is she a he?) a little annoying also. Terry really did derail this entire thread. I'm pretty sure she/he's just targeting Brian

Does anyone know if will-call at RED's Irvine facility was available for picking up Scarlets yesterday?

I read somewhere that will call was available for red.com orders. I suppose that could include scarlet orders.

I talked to my bomb squad rep and got a quote of ~$55 for overnight shipping down here to Houston. In case anybody was still wondering.

Yup, I had already arranged for my order to be placed in will call for pick up in Irvine.

I guess I won't worry too much about my reputation with the folks who have been here for a week and have less than a dozen posts. C'est le vie. (Sorry, my french isn't as good as Brian's engliish, but then again , I think both of us are American.)
