  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Trailer

Some of that CGI (mainly landscapes) looked out of this world good while other shots (CGI elves) stuck out like a sore thumb.

I'll be setting my expectations very low this time around, especially after this trailer. :/ If I had never read the Hobbit or heard of Peter Jackson and only watched the trailer I would assume this was going to be some middling adventure movie like The Mummy.

It is a middling adventure movie. The first one was by no means bad but just blah. Such a lack of anything but technical achievement. It looks nice. But at this point, who cares if something just looks nice. Form over function.

You could make a drinking game centered around how many sweeping aerial shots will be in the movie.

Still shocked he managed to make three, three hour movies out of one book. Thought he did a great job on the first two Ring movies, but the third was interminal. Think I'll pass on all three.

Looks Great! Loved the first movie.

24p 2D for me, but I am super effing excited!

Yep, no more HFR for me. I want to see Hobbits, not Teletubbies...

Only HFR for me. I'm sick of motion artifacts.

I just hope it's not as big of a disappointment as the last one. This one does look better, though.

All PJ's Tolkien movies are first and foremost... New Zealand tourism adverts. My wife went down earlier this year and has said that it more than lives up to the hype... but 6 three hour movies is a LOT of hype. (bit facetious but there are a LOT of landscape shots in both series)

I think the point is if you want 48fps 3D you can, if you want 24fps 3D you can. If yo want 24fps 2D then I it works too, but and its a big but, 2D shot framing and direction is very different from 3D direction and framing.

I like big buts
