Hi All,

Here's a feature called "The Grey Area" I DP'd here in Portland, Oregon awhile back that has finally made it through post. We were one of the first to shoot a feature on beta Build 21 4.5K Redcode 42. We shot with a (non-MX) camera package from Picture This and used their Zeiss B-Series primes. I also spent 7 days grading this feature in Indent Studio's Color suite.

This was a micro indie but we had a really talented crew and got some great looks. Can't praise Phil Anderson - Gaffer, Fro Waters - Key Grip, and Sam Garr / Jerry Turner - 1st AC(s) enough. Directed by the talented Chapin Hemmingway.

"The Grey Area" premiered at the Hollywood Theater in Portland, and just got into the Salem film festival, I'm told much shopping around will ensue. Check out Portland's own Exterior Films, who produced this project.

Hi Sean,

I really love the 4.5 K aspect ratio. Too bad I can't use it more with my work. Good luck!

Hey Taylor,

Thanks for the positive words. Yeah I really enjoy composing for 2.33:1. The only time it becomes challenging is CU singles.

Hey,

For anyone interested in indie film the boys from Exterior Films have started a weekly podcast discussing their entire process from financing to post. For their seventh episode they invited me to come in and talk about the RED One vs. other formats and general camera dorkery . . .
