The future...

The future is dependent on those that push... not those that react.

Jim,
Metaphorically, would you equate it with the technique of drafting in auto racing: the lead car can only go faster with next car drafting right behind it. Together, they both accelerate and excel, leaving the rest of the field behind.
Taking it one step further, you've got 8000+ team cars on your ass, and we are owning it. Heck of a ride!

If nobody would push for advancements se would still watch NTSC and PAL.
one of the small things RED brought that annoyed me to hell with Sony Canon ... is a free chocie of fps. It is so simple option bit the giants never gave us that. Bring it to the service centre and we shall unlock the fps you are missing - oh and it's just 500 $ ser. Well, never again, RED is in town and they brought future with them

Jim ..

Please tell us if Epic-s or whatever alternative name is .. IS still exist???
I 'd rather to wait for Epic-s if the camera is still exist otherwise I am going to buy scarlet this week.

Full of one-liner wisdom lately Jim :) Keep it coming.

(he, he....)

Exactly…a rather ironic message of JIm's to "react to" too….????

I see perhaps a different REDUSER of the future perhaps... (maybe slightly different mind set..who knows... it has been a very good run though...).

If I don’t go to bed I will die!!!!

I'm sure I have the wrong end of the stick on this and much more besides....

Cio!

My bet is that there are several board of directors now trying to figure out how to deal with us... :-)

Yeah - it's not like there's any legally binding agreement anywhere that says anyone has to wait until the 3rd. There's just some good old PT Barnum marketing happening on all fronts.

As I was walking in the street o my lunch break, I was, as always, listening to music. This particular music came in:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_ymvjxErs0 (its in portuguese)

I was looking at the people, getting past me. I observed, their smiles, the way they interacted with each other, sitting in the park, having drinks in a café, couples together, a man waiting for a taxi, the old city streets with century old buildings, kids getting out of school to their parents... With this music in the background, I was seeing them at 300fps, capturing the nuances of their expressions, of their smiles, of their gestures, of how their bodies communicated their feelings... This is a vision I could only capture in my head, or in my dreams, due to how expensive it would be to make it possible... something only achievable in 100 000 USD plus cameras. Now, I can do it. I can tell these small personal stories, and at the same time, do other higher end works, because of you, Red Team, Jim and Co. Its going to be hard to get the money for the Epic, but, steady job and a heavy loan warrants that I will be able to put these visions into reality, and this is just possible with RED. Its going to happen because you are aiming high, you're opening the road for us. You guys are pushing the limits and making it happen for us.

May it be with the Scarlet, or with an Epic, you are giving us the power to express fully our talent and to tell the stories the way we want them to be told, at an "affordable" price point.

Keep pushing it, keep the revolution going!

really appreciating your commitment to leadership jim. not only does it make me want to follow, it encourages me to step up and lead where i'm called upon. i can't say enough about the environment you guys have fostered on these boards, virtual and not. there is so much sharing of wisdom and knowledge, exactly what young men like myself crave. so, thanks for offering your wisdom so humbly and openly - otherwise we might have to take it by force, and that may not work as well. i'd rather we apply force together against the ideas that promote stagnation under the guise of comfort and security. i'm ready to take some risks... the soldiers are armed and ready. it's time to shoot ;)

On one hand I subscribe to the John Wooden approach: "I never watch film of my opponents. If we plan and execute well then we have no reason to". On the other: it's fun to fuck with the competitors
