  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The future...

yeah, I keep having to pinch myself about that upgrade path to Monstro - since I'm just tapping into the possibilities of EPIC, it's hard to wrap my brain around...and it sounds as if there is much, much more already in the oven.

I don't think the upgrade to Monstro has fully sunk in yet. It's starting to...better start scheming a project deserving of it...took me two years to pull together a project worthy of my ONEs.

It is hard for us to explain without giving away the fort to our competitors... as we have done in the past. But I can tell you... you haven't seen anything yet.

At some point... people will realize exactly who is delivering the future. And in a way that doesn't screw the customers...

Jim

This is small change compared to what we have cooking...

Best of all... our customers get to upgrade.

Jim

Interesting.

Well, I looks forward to the day that you release a camera the competes with the resolution of 5/65mm, and possibly even IMAX stock. Best of luck to you.

That is easy... already done. Epic.

My favorite thing about RED is that nothing is ever "good enough." That's what keeps me excited about the future.

If Epic was easy I can't wait to see you do something really hard. It may be "easy" for you, but nobody else in the world could do.

BTW, I'm sure this gets asked a lot so I'll just assume that no news is good news on the Epic X front? Everything I assume is still on track?

EPIC-X is on track. End of this month.

The problem we have is so many opportunities going forward. It is really interesting. Exponential leaps.

That sounds awesome. I'm excited to hear whats coming.

However, there is an army of us that are anxious for the chance to buy a Scarlet. We're excited that there are more opportunities out there, but somewhat dismayed at talk about new opportunities when we have yet to have an opportunity to purchase a camera announced years ago. Forgive my frankness.

How close is Scarlet to EPIC-X release?

We only have one lens issue to resolve. Then we are ready...

Excellent. I assume it is the supply issue in the wake of Japan?

We've got a production coming up toward the end of the year that may well prove an opportunity to purchase new cameras. I will recommend fixed lens Scarlets hands down. Would love to hit that window with Scarlet available before we have to start and buy a different mediocre camera just shy of Scarlet's release.

I'm intrigued by what RED seems to have up its sleeve.

I'm writing from Munchen this morning.

Also I was writing about my vision of the Red future already many times before

and would like to say now again that if Red meets some of those requests then the future is really bright.

Here in Bayern you can always get a right feeling from the pulse nice, warmhearted, temperament

and smart local German people but also never forget that the competition never sleeps.

Sanjin... what the hell are you talking about?

Sounds exciting....Would it be possible in the future to "shrink" the cameras in size? A 4K cam the size of a matchbox would be awesome, not asking for too much am I :)

My wish was possibility to mount lightweight, optically excellent Leica-M lenses (also made by Cosina Zeiss and Cosina Voigtlander)

and a sort of HDR version 2 made by using exposure via super clean high ISO that can deliver a slow motion image without any shutter speed motion artifacts.

nice jim... enjoying every little move.
loving the epic m by the way.
cheers from brazil

Sanjin.. you are nuts. In a good way I think.

But what you are saying has nothing to do with our future.
