If i get the fixed scarlet, what is the FF35 focal length equivalent of the lens (e.g 25-200mm - 8x?)

Thanks.

This has not be confirmed, and has been asked multiple times...

Before this most recent list of announcements, they did have a focal length, But I'll pass on posting since it is probably incorrect now and I don't one anyone skimming my post and thinking thats the correct 8x.

 Zac

I also would like to know the focal legth and f-stop of this lens.
I shoot ENG on 3x2/3" SD CCD's and a prism block. The Fujinon 20x8.6BERM SD f1.8 lens is not quite wide enough. We use a x .80 zoom through wide eye lens adapter to give a little wider field of view. I would hope the lens would be in the 7-8 mm focal length on the wide end. However 8 times would mean it would only get you 64mm on the long end. I don't see the value of a 8x lens at all. A useful fixed lens would have to be in the 16x to 20x range.
I will be getting the Scarlet 2/3 without the lens!

lens is F2.4, T2.6

focal length is said to be somewhere close to 7.5 - 60 (in response to a guess) I'd say you're estimate may be it.

keep in mind there are said to be wide/tele adaptors

i think the usefulness of it will be in its electronic controls and ability to wirelessly use the camera. But i agree that 8x will be short on telephoto action. I hope that the adaptors do come out and are as optically amazing as the rest of reds work.

Without stablization, and unless that is the missing item 21 it is not there, more than 8x will not be usable except with a good tripod. Remember that the fixed Scarlet is positioned this way "Scarlet 2/3 8X can fly light and hand." My wish list centers on stablization and reasonable weight.

Has anyone heard what the filter size is going to be? I just want to know if I will need to purchase additional screw on lens filters.

Thanks for that link. Gotta get a good uv filter the day I decide to purchase the fixed lens scarlet.

Wider is definitely better for the 8x. Otherwise closeup documentary style shots in small places, like cars, will be very difficult. Or at the very least if the angle of view is somewhere in the 50/60 degree range (similar to some consumer handhelds and professional HDV handhelds), a wide angle converter in around 0.5x will be necessary. A converter in that size could add a few hundred dollars to the cost of your Scarlet.
