I hear the NYT voted it top 10 in Tribeca. :)

If anyone is interested in seeing what a great DP can do with a stripped down RED you should definitely come check out this film. It was graded in 3 days *while* we were moving into our new facility. I have to say I haven't been a fan of working in redspace (gamma) because we tend to get drastically underexposed footage but when exposed correctly, redspace really shines. Redspace was loaded as our viewing gamma and graded for an HDCAM master.

No trailer online yet... you have to come see it :) For those of you going to the Tribeca Film festival I *highly* recommend you put this film on your list.

no, unfortunately there is not trailer yet but we've delivered several clips for online press so as soon as they are up i will send link for viewing. Eric Lin the DP completely nailed the RED in all conditions and saturated the sensor with tons of natural late summer NYC daylight. also, being that it was his first RED experience it was a pleasure all around from his testing/teaching phase to finishing.

Here are some press images. they are ungraded, they are not super hi-res from RED Alert but you get the point of Color and Depth of Field. A majority of the film was shot with a 300mm Optimo from about a nyc block away from the actors. the grading was completely natural and basically needed to be balanced and lightly touched..came out beautiful.

hey jason did you shoot with the 300mm in NY because you didn't get any permits? or was it out of artistical reasons? how was focus pulling with that? :)

cheers, xax

Congratulations!

I just read this:

2009 Tribeca Film Festival Award Winners

Best Actress in a Narrative Feature Film: Zoe Kazan in The Exploding Girl

RGB-EXPLODINGGIRL_STILL1.jpg

After a smattering of small roles here and there, Zoe Kazan has truly broken out with her performance
in Bradley Rust Gray's The Exploding Girl, a film about a young woman during a summer home from college.
"Zoe shines in this understated role," the jurors comment. "Every component of this brilliantly restrained performance
displays a command of her craft that stunned and moved this jury.”

Its playing tomorrow and sunday as well guys (may 2nd/3rd). Last chance.

Very nice pics! You're quite right Jason, the 300mm serves this well.

That girl reminds me a bit of Lady GaGa (in the facial structure).

We are so excited about the attention our film has been getting and Zoe's win at Tribeca. As we get closer to a deal I will maybe try to setup a REDUser screening or something for interested parties...

We are in the middle of principal photography on another RED feature AYITI, AYITI right now and as always we are providing the full "cameras to completion" package.

we have a few more high profile projects ramping up and will release details as they come.

The film sounds very interesting, and the poster sparks inspiration and curiosity in me. Can't wait to see the trailer!

Hmm... How would someone like me, who lives in Honolulu, see The Exploding Girl?
I has a sad :/
