If you're into film-making (duh) or more specifically, cinematography, you may find my latest blog post of interest. I've gone through the entire film PRISONERS and picked out shots that I think are worth talking about...lighting, blocking, composition, set design and other subtle additions that make this film a stand out for me. Shot by the master, Roger Deakins ASC, it's not only a visual masterpiece, but a gripping and captivating film that keeps you glued the whole time.

Check out the rest at my blog below...only the first quarter of what I will be working on to complete over the coming weeks! Cheers :)

Matthew, this is BRILLIANT. And I mean brilliant. Well done. Can't wait to read more.

Saw the movie over the holidays and loved it. So dark.

Excellent analysis. What an amazing film "Prisoners" was. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the cinematography was simply amazing. Deakins amazes me with every film. I really hope he gets that Oscar - can't think of anyone who deserves it as much as him at this point.

You are my hero. I wanted to get the Blu Ray but the extras suck I here. YOU SHOULD DO THE extras.
I'd buy this book in a heart beat.
Thanks,

Ryan

awesome stuff matt - but i think you're going to have to include spoilers to really break it down -which means i've gotta go see it (:

Great Stuff Matt, doing this is much appreciated. I love Deakins, why this man hasn't won an academy award yet is beyond me.

i find his career much more compelling for the very fact that he hasn't won any. the fact that he has so many nominations and no wins speaks volumes to his commitment solely to the art and science of motion pictures, and not to the academy of it.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Working on more today...it's actually really fun but shatters your confidence when you study your own frames with the same eye hehe...
