We have a cheap 22" HDMI-monitor (cost around 150€) as our client/director-monitor, and when we recently moved to Red One MX, we just used it with a 10m hdmi-cable.
After having lots of frustration with the long hdmi cable, and also needing the Hdmi-port for my onboard-monitor, I found this: https://vimeo.com/51770361
Now we've had two days shoot with it, 10m BNC-cable from camera to converter, the converter taped on back of the monitor, and 0.5m hdmi-cable from converter to monitor. It works perfect, zero problems so far. And the long bnc-cable is so much better than the crappy HDMI
It's not a high end solution, but you can see the framing, and that's enough for our low budget productions.
