  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The "brain with no I/O" dilemma

I guess for very early switchers, I could see an exception. The thing I'd be annoyed with though is if someone decided to switch their Raven to Scarlet-W today and their order gets to trump my pre-order that was placed two months ago.

And the early announcement/release is beside the point. It's great that they announced it early and are planning on shipping soon. I'm very excited for it. But even you acknowledged that we were all aware the Raven wasn't a Scarlet replacement. So, therefore, myself and a ton of others held off preordering Raven because it wasn't the camera we wanted. And now we slide back in the queue due to people changing their minds (when they already knew a Scarlet would be coming down the pipe, like you said.)

Obviously there is nothing I can do about it, so I'll just hang out and wait for an email saying mine is ready. But that's where I find more annoyance. I preordered with the impression that I could possibly get in on March delivery... now I have absolutely no clue where I stand. Mid-April? Maybe. May? Could be. Did 100 people change Raven preorders? 1000? Those of us who waited for Scarlet-W preorders to open have no idea if we can even get the camera in the first month or two of release, because people switching over is such a wild card. That's why I find it annoying.

But like I said, nothing I can do but wait.

well then the point is almost moot, because id say 99 percent of people that switched did it immediately upon the scarlet announcement. probably not many people will do it now especially with the known fact that they might get the brain now but most of the accessories, even the new monitors arent avail until march. so i dont see anyone switching now.

Well, you don't seen anyone switching to the Brain. People could still switch to the kit, pushing back non-Raven-preorders further back than March.

well the kit will not be available until late march anyway.
and that que should be a lot less then a raven que.
what i hear about most people is that they switched to the brain only, thats why they are freaking out that they will have a brain with nothing to use it with.

Hmm. I guess that's something I didn't really consider too heavily. A lot of people preordered the Raven due to price, it's the first time a RED has ever been that cheap. The reality is that a lot of those people probably wouldn't jump up to the higher investment of the Scarlet-W. Perhaps it won't make as big of a difference as I assume. I guess we'll find out once we get emails and we know what the expected delivery dates are. Fingers crossed.

and honestly i have no horse in this race, im sticking with the raven, brain only and going ala carte, im about 6th on the reduser raven que and im still worried ill have it too early when a month later at nab there will be all sorts of new 3rd party offerings, and maybe a red side handle and a new form of red batteries.
so i might just be sitting on mine for a while.

I think that Scarlet-Ws will ship at a record pace. A month ago, Jarred informed us that they're ready "100%" for the Scarlet-W shipping. Only thing that had to happen first was taking care of the Weapon Mg folks. So, if you're a "brain only" customer, it won't really matter where you are in line. They should all ship fairly quickly.

Packages have to wait on the availability of bits and pieces, and Ravens are just waiting on sensors. Raven packages a little later, I suspect.

Basically, everything is just around the corner, so sit tight.

You guys realize that many have been waiting since April last year for their upgrade? I know it's exciting to get your notice, but let's keep it together folks.
Weapon is a different beast, though, haha. I know some have waited far longer for their upgrades. But at least in the meantime you're shooting with your Dragons, that's not all that bad ;) A lot of us little fellows pre-ordering the Scarlet-W are getting into RED for the first time. A little antsy, I suppose.
