  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The best LCD-Hood for the 5" Touch LCD?

I thought this would be good for the 5" touch but its not really wide enough....gonna have to get something else I think.

I wish RED would come out with something that works for the Touch screen and doesn't interfere with the buttons on the side etc.

Not sure if this kinda thing is good for a touch screen:

Hi Jack, thanks for the links. Exactly, thats my problem, my last LCD-Hood was a bad deal...was very shaky on my old 7" screen...

[h=1]Hoodman 5.6" Monitor Hood for the RED Digital Cinema Camera is a good fit for the 5.0 pro LCD, to keep it from moving and secure it, put 2 small strips of Velcro (hook) on the front of the monitor. This hood It does not get in the way of the side controls.[/h]

Stand By- I will grab my EPIC.....and test.....

Ok, just tested it....

if you have really big hands it might give you trouble, but I just ran through all the menus with no problems with the HoodMan Hood on.
This is a must outside (hood) last time I just used the BOMB EVF and that was really nice. I controlled the camera with the sidehandle and REDMote.

Hope that helps.

What most assistants do is cut out nice hoods from corrugated plastic (leaving access points to buttons), tape up the edges, and stick on velco (soft side on monitor edges).

Easy, cheap, and effective. I never understood the overly complicated 'hoodmans'. I never use them..

agreed.

Hoodman H-R5.6

If you're really picky there's a tiny gap on the left and right but it fits on great and is not too deep to stop you from using the touch screen.

The top hood difficult to touch.
This one is better.
