  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

THC, Lens Control Motor without WMD

I payed in the first week at NAB for Carbon and 8K because of this.
If its not I think I've to rethink my order or maybe wait till its working.

May someone from Red respond to this?

The WEAPON does not have the RF radio required to communicate to the THC built in. It does have WiFi built in.
 
man, that a major bummer.

I was hoping something similar as the Alexa Mini WCU, but for motorized dslr lenses.
It made so much sense, I've never questionned it.

That's (was) the main reason I'm selling my PL Lomo Ekran. Get some new Nikon's and use the THC to extend the focus range. (Well that and a brand new set of leicas)


Maybe Raven will change that. Fixed DSLR mount camera should be able to use THC without redlink, otherwise what's the point using DSLR lenses, and Red wireless hand unit.
That, or I'm really hoping RTmotion offers an alternative next week.
 
So is there a way to get the THC running on weapon like on dragon or mx?
I think I've to wait with my cam till it works like on the old ones. Otherwise I'll not be able to be as fast as before.
That's a mayor letdown.
 
I really hope its as small as redlink and does the same...though I dont want to buy a new remote...the system already cost me over 4000€

No, I have a rtmotion actually, but owning the thc + nikons G As well was in my 2 months plan.

Mark, RTmotion told me in private mail early 2015, but without much details.
It looks promising, but the smartphone relay box is obscure to me. It seems there are
a lot of parts
 
so maybe its better to stick with the Dragon, buy Raven and save money for a better drone.
Let's wait till next week, but I dont know if it was a right decision to put deposit on Carbon and 8K right now.
Weapon had me because of weight and (i was thinking for THC as well) build in wifi...when I put Motors, cinelens and WMC again on cam it gets even heavier and takes more time to set everything up...compared to dragon...or did i miss smth?
