  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thanks...

Can't wait to see it, even if my footage didn't make it into the reel :)

Thanks so much for allowing us the opportunity to be involved. It's not everyday you get a chance to be part of a revolution in such a direct way. We are all really looking forward to seeing the reel, and a big thanks to the folks at PlasterCITY for all their help!

We have some issues posting some of the content of the reel online so we are making a modified version. We will post as soon as we get that done.

Back into the swing of things here in Hollywood after a couple weeks in Europe. It was a pleasure to show the Reel in 4k on that giant Screen at IBC, and great to hear so many positive responses to it.

A lot of the movies we were able to showcase in the reel we only have special, limited rights to screen theatrically - so we are now starting the process of cutting another reel of footage that we can post online. The staff at Plaster City has already made the reachout to confirm we can use the footage in the reel for this purpose, and we will likely include some other pieces that we were not able to put into the IBC reel, that either didn't make it to us in time, or didn't work for a large screen theatrical presentation.

The RED reel is a work in progress, just like everything else at RED, so thanks for your patience as we rework and retool for an online "small screen" delivery.

The wiredrive link is still active, so if there is new RED material that you want us to review, you can still post things there.

Thanks.

+ Ted

Apologies for the delay in getting something up online as a recut reel that we are all cleared on showing on the internet. We have to take out some of the big movies that we only had theatrical play clearance for, they are very specific about not wanting their footage to show up on the net before the release of their movie.

It's not for lack of desire to do this and get it online, it's that the post house in Hollywood that we cut the reel at is so busy with RED post work they simply don't have any spare cycles to do a recut and re-score. I'm lobbying to get time to do this, but it may take some more time before they are out of the weeds with the amount of work they are doing.

For those that can make it in the LA area, I've agreed to give casual talks at HDExpo at the end of Oct and DVExpo at the beginning of Nov, and if projection and the technical specs are up to par, we will screen the reel and other new Red footage there, for those on this side of the world that weren't in Europe to see the 4k at IBC. (If the projection is not correct I won't show footage, I've been told they will have a 2k Christie for us at HD Expo, so I'm thinking that will be a go)

Thanks for the patience.

+ Ted

Hi Shawn,

I don't remember seeing your name in the credits.

I received a long thread of emails from Plaster City, including asking me for proper credit spelling, then later thanking me for my stuff, then later asking for legal permission for my stuff to put it on the web, so after all that it would surprise me greatly if none of my shots were in it.

Shawn,

I could be wrong. Most of the shots had huge production value and were terribly impressive, hats off to you if some of your footage was there.

Well my submissions were not 'huge production value'. Generally speaking, I definitely don't mind my stuff not being chosen, I know that I'm quite nothing compared to many of the other impressive redusers, but if I was pulled through that whole process and it turns out none of it was actually included while I was getting emails on credit spelling, kudos, release rights, etc....I'd be a bit taken back for sure.

There was the IBC reel (done in a big hurry). We had a ton of last week submissions and Ted spent hours, nights and days working on a final cut. There was a ton of great footage that didn't make it in because we couldn't present an hours worth at IBC. There will be more reels going forward.

Thanks again to all who submitted.

Huh? I'm not even sure what you are trying to say. I guess I wasn't expecting a reply from you, I was expecting Ted or whoever to say 'Sorry Shawn...' or 'yeah, you're in there'.

So when can I see for myself if I'm in the demo?
