  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

No I would not say that at all, maybe just that there are benefits to living in L.A. aside from all the pretty women and sunshine. :)

I would say Red had a tough time last night, and really stepped up to handle a tough situation. It's difficult to say what is fair or not as well all want our cameras quickly (especially those who don't have a red to shot on like me, especially since I'm production on something) I'm sure the Guys at Red will figure it out! I'm just glad I was able to put an order in.

Yeah I think sidestepping would be better edited to - trying to facilitate a process amidst deliberate sabotage.

I was in the first seconds too, yet it took me two hours of trying online from Regional Australia, nine phone calls and two emails, before it was only due to the outstanding efforts of the bomb squad that I even got an order in at all.

I'm sure you won't suffer too many people submitting their phone records Michael. And I do empathise with being in production and the pressure you can feel.

Hey guys! It was a blast being able to send intel from inside the bunker. Pretty much every info tweet i did was miliseconds after Jim shared them with us. =)
Another historic event I am grateful I could attend. Can't wait for NAB..as I'm sure Jim will have more surprises in store.

I have to reiterate..the Peter Lik blowup is freakin a masterpiece.

Thanks Tonaci, it was like being there!!! We got that feeling that you were typing as he was speaking. It had all the drama of a good film.

Honestly, like you say, there is no fair way to assign places in line.

If the servers worked perfectly it would have been a crap shoot decided by mere seconds.
If the servers had worked perfectly some on production and busy working wouldn't have been able to order within seconds anyway.

No matter how it went down yesterday the sorting order of who got a camera when based on order time still would have been a lottery of sorts. The lottery was just a lot slower, even more random and hair pullingly frustrating haha. :P
 
but haven't received a call back to pay the balance or talk about shipping...
Does that mean I'm waaaaaaaaaaaay down the line for a shipping Scarlet?

If it is anything like EPIC, you will receive an email to pay once your camera is allocated and about ready to ship.
 
I read in one of Jim's posts that current pricing was good through December (I think). Do any of you guys with previous purchasing experience know, if I paid my deposit now, could I delay the balance of my payment for a while. Maybe until around Jan/Feb?

Well said, a bit of nervous energy when I red the post! I would agree that Sidestepping is too much. People did what they needed too, and were smart for calling. I'm in line, excited and that all that matters.

I should get back to the gratitude for those that kept us informed.
 
I had a great time lastnight! One of the most exciting events I've ever been a part of! Thanks to the red team for making a $450 event into a priceless one. Thumbs up

Any clue about a delivery date if i were to order today? Will it make a big difference vs the people who ordered first yesterday?
My mind is still going over all of yesterday's events and news. What a night.
 
Thank you RED for the awesome event! I think my favorite line was from Jim explaining why Scarlet has no ribs, "women are smooth." I'd take a very candid experience like that over a $10M gala any day. I'm fairly new to Twitter but I wanna thank anyone who was following me (@TheDataSierra), especially those who gave me great questions to ask Jim and other members of the RED team.

I can't wait to see what you all start doing with this camera early next year!
 
We have a lot of deposits to charge, yes, BOMB SQUAD is going down the list - while also answering calls and emails. Website only authorizes the card, does not charge it. We do it. Don't worry, if your order is in, you will be charged. Though I admire the "you cannot take my money fast enough" mentality, hehe.

Secondly, as Jim mentioned in his FAQ's, we are slammed. Plain and simple. Some people around here have not slept since Wed night - or longer. When your order is ready for allocation, it will start order processing. If we need to contact you for any reason once order processing begins, we will. If not, we will process what is available, ship, and you will get tracking numbers :)

Calls of "Are we there yet? How about now? Now? Are we there yet?" (those with kids will get the analogy) are just soaking up precious bandwidth. We posted the earliest it will ship is Nov 17 - so we will get your gear to you as soon as we can after that date, I promise. We are (almost) as excited to ship it to you as you are to get it!

Interesting to learn you had a cyber attack. Take it as a compliment when people try to bring you down because it means you are at the top of your game.
I am so thankful for @tonaci on twitter who kept me up to date on the announcement. He was amazing at getting the message out. Thankyou Tonaci
 
Heck, us RED folk in Irvine were watching Tonaci's tweets ourselves while the RED.com and REDUSER servers were being pillaged.
