  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thanks Kessler Crane!

The remote head works great, BTW, with a Red One. - no problems and a wonderful tool

Hi Flo,

you can see the slider with the revolution head in this video:

Best Regards from Munich

and if you want to see the configuration, come and visit me in Munich!

I'll be hanging out at the Kessler-Zacuto booth at NAB a lot, checking out the ridiculous, secret new moco gear Eric has been working on till 2am every night. I haven't even seen photos of it yet...

That is very interesting quasi-info...!

Tom, you talked a while ago about a new Kessler slider that would be more suitable for R1 and Epic. Is that still in the works? Or with do you not think that is necessary any more?

hmmm....interesting. I own the full kit of Cineslider stuff (2-oracle controllers, revolution head, etc.), and have used it extensively on the last feature I shot. It worked really well in many different configurations (inverted, vertical, revolution head on a jib, etc.), so the kit in my mind is already very suitable for a fully kitted out Epic. However, there were a few issues that we had to work around, notably with a heavy rig in a vertical setup slipping. That said, it did work to help create some beautiful shots, although it is indeed definately not a moco system.

We are still working on it. It's very tricky, though. If it was easy, there would already be tons of sliders that work really well with Red Ones at an affordable price. Right now, Eric just sent me the side-mount 100mm bowl for the 5-foot CineSlider, and that baby seems to work really well for cameras around the size of the Epic. Very smooth. It keeps the camera closer to track level. I have not tested it with a really heavy camera yet. The Red slider has been put on the backburner a bit while Eric and his team have been working on this new, super-cutting-edge moco gear, which will be at the Kessler-Zacuto booth for NAB. Not sure if it's 100% functional yet, but you will be able to get a real look at it. Very, very exciting stuff, at least from my point of view. This is gear Eric and I were talking about in our wildest dreams a year ago. Like, "some day we might try this." Now he's actually making it. The guy is a dynamo.

Our Revolution head has given us zero issues with our Red and we mount it on Kessler cranes up to 12 feet. I'd say higher would be pushing it. We almost never shoot with any other camera, and on music and fashion videos it would now be unthinkable to not include our Kessler head in our basic gear list. Once you learn it, it's amazingly useful.

Robb love to see any clips showing how you use the Kessler gear...do you have anything online..?..thanks..

No - We keep a very low online profile because my competitors are sharks.

However, something really big coming soon.
