  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So, I see there's a new email from my bomb squad rep in my inbox this morning, turns out that dragon upgrade pricing has been slashed. Thats great news as I'd been considering upgrading one of my eligible cameras but missed the good price. Also turns out theres a whole new camera system on the way, also great news! Also turns out you'll need to be up to date with dragon to upgrade to it, well that all works out perfectly then, reduced price upgrade to dragon now and be ready for the new system. EXCEPT, when does all this have to be done by? Oh right, not even two days away. And this has all been known about for weeks, price has been slashed since the 25th of Feb and my rep didnt bother to let me know until two days before the deadline when I'm out on a job and cant make it happen. Why on earth do we pay these ridiculous transfer fees, on every camera, so we can be fully registered with red, get a rep etc. This is the ONE situation where having a rep to let you know whats going on would have come in useful, did they manage it? Course not.
 
Are you sure you can´t just transfer the money before nab and they will give you the deal?
This has been widely discussed here in this forum, but I can agree that RED should have sent a notification email to everyone holding a MX camera. Just mentioning that cameras are going to be end of line on a forum is possibly not the best practice.
 
At least you got an email - I peruse the forums so I knew from my own research, but not once did I get a rep email.. just saying.
 
Thom, just so you know, Jarred has stated that you'll be able to upgrade to Dragon until mid-summer when they switch the lines over to Weapon upgrades. It's only the discount that has an NAB cutoff. Agreed a mass email to owners would have been nice, but this was all rather spur of the moment. During conversations on the forum over the upgrade process, someone inquired about a possible discount on the Dragon upgrade. Then Jarred was like, bamm, you got it, back to 9500 until NAB. That was a pretty nice thing that he didn't have to do, so I think it's not totally fair to criticize them.

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to provide visibility into my experience which was the complete other end of the spectrum.

Since Jarred announced the temporary price drop, in the following order I received:

1.) A phone call from my bomb squad reps helper Colin on March 2nd
2.) An email from my bomb squad rep Nick on March 2nd
3.) A second phone call from Nick my bomb squad rep on March 9th.
4.) An email blast from RED on March 16th

I'm pretty sure I got another phone call from Nick along the way as well, but the above reflects voicemail and email messages I can verify today.

In short, RED doesn't always get it right, nobody does. But on this one they've worked hard to ensure I was informed of what was coming.

And not that it matters, but yes I'm in on the Dragon upgrade, Thanks Jarred for lowering the price until NAB, it allowed me to make this happen.

...and you got a personal response on the forum from the Big Cheese at customer service within 7 hours of posting a 4:25 am complaint. That's actually pretty remarkable, for any company.

The forums can be an imperfect way to communicate sometimes, but ya gotta admit that watching events unfold in real time has its perks. It's hard to complain about a free ringside seat at the circus!
 
Yep my Rep was on my a$$ like fruit of the loom about the upgrade! Even though I did mine at the last minute before the price increase.
I surly appreciate the reminders saved me 3 grand! So yeah Red Rocks I don't care what Arri says about them :lol:

Yep! That was pretty much my same experience. Svereal notifications via email and phone calls starting a couple days after Jarred announced the price slash. Thanks to the reduced upgrade pricing, I managed to put together the funds and get in just under the wire!

Oh wait! That's because I'm already upgraded to the DRAGON. ;)

chris ragsdale has sent me 10 emails about upgrading my epic M #00087. and called me at least a dozen times. moreover, if you have logged into reduser even once in the last month and read just the first page of new post you would have run into some of this information. rule of thumb going forward, log into reduser once a week and hit new posts and read the first page...in the month ofr so leading up to NAB, do it more often.
