  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thanks Duclos/Shameless lens porn

Workin on it. I've got a 15-40 Optimo completely dis-assembled on my bench right now. One would think that my presence on this forum would exhibit a lack of productivity... Part of my job is handling the "web community" and answering emails. Maybe I should turn off the "new message" notification from RedUser.net.

Back to work ;)

Mine too Matthew! Can't wait to get my anamorphic back.

Matthew - how much is that Magic Restoration Dust? Can I use it to sprinkle onto my Zeiss ZF lenses to make them into PL-mount lenses? :)

Seriously, Nick - I'm very interested in seeing some grabs with these lenses. Could be worth getting until I can afford the RED primes. Later I could rent them out to low budget productions.

Btw - I still need to send you the measurement of the busted element...

I'm sorry. Matthew is currently working hard on customers lenses at the moment. Please allow 2-5 days for a response to your message. Thank you.

P.S.
Mike, your lens is on Paul's bench as I type this. It should be done very soon.

Nice! Thanks Matthew! Sent a few referrals your way in the last week.

May I ask a basic question - what is the advantage of changing the mounts of a still lens from say Contax to a PL mount?

I do understand that a PL is a sturdier mount, while the stills lens mount will always have some wiggle.

The other advantage is of course that there is no need to change the Red mount.

Are there more? (I'm sure there are.)

OK, I can't figure out how to output a still image from Redcine. I know it should be simple but I am stumped. I'll post some lomo stills if some one can tell me where I am going wrong.

Thanks,

Nick

If you navigate to the "Output" tab you should see "Snap Shot Settings",
Tell REDCINE where to place the snapshot and select either Tiff or Jpg. You can also select in "Snap Mode" View or image. View will take a snapshot of the REDCINE UI and Image will only take a snapshot of the image.

The Top bar next to "Histogram" will be a "Snap Shot" button. Click this and REDCINE will export a snapshot.

Thanks, I'll put up some shots this weekend. I always wondered where the histogram button was..........

Nick
