Just shot with 2 RED Ones and 2 RED with MX sensor the implosion of Texas Stadium in Dallas Texas.
The 2 cameras that were closest to the Implosion did lose some frames from the concussion and noise of the dynamite that was used to take down the stadium.
We were running one camera at 96 FPS and the other was going 64FPS.
I could not use CF Cards and rish losing the shot so I went with the drives knowing that this might happen.
Thought I would post this to let people know.

Topanga !!! I used to live up on Henry Ridge Road... sorry I know it's totally off subject, but I can't help myself.

I thought the drives were more succeptable to vibration than other recording mediums. One of us seems to have it backward.

Did a promo video that had a RED as the B-Cam shooting high speed footage. The subject being filmed involved a couple of machine guns firing on full auto. The force from those guns caused the camera to loose all the frames when the guns were going off.

The DP ended up switching to CF cards, but I was surprised that even that set off the HDD. The vibrations weren't *that* bad from the guns.

I think what he meant was that CF cards, although they may have been the best medium for vibration resistence, may not have had enough storage to capture everything at those frame rates...you wouldn't want a card to be full half-way through the shoot.... as for REDRam....well they're just expensive to equip 4 cams with them.

Right... But those were the options; spend the money either on media, additional coverage, or both, decrease the frame rate, or cross your fingers and be prepared to cry. Isn't that always the way with slo-mo? ;-)

Hindsight is great. Thanks for sharing your experience.
