Basic question alert... Does anyone have information on how one would go about using the Base I/O's 4.7" touchscreen on a mount other than the camera itself? I'm thinking of situations like when using the Raven on a DJI Ronin, where the monitor would need to be on the upper grip bar.

Ahh, thanks! I see that now. That makes sense, though it is a bitter pill to swallow to pay more than 50% the cost of the monitor just to run it from a cable...

yes, but imagine always having to shoot with the monitor on top of the camera. In my experience, 80% of the time you don't want the monitor bolted to the top of the camera. just budget for that as a necessity.

My plan is to use my current SDI monitor on a magic arm + fool control for when I want more flexibility. I am intrigued by the simplicity of a no cables setup but of course, it is not the best setup for 100% of shooting scenarios.

Good points, all. And that's true, Alexander... for the cost of the Lemo Adaptors I could buy a SmallHD or similar that sits in the wings as a second monitor that can be tethered via SDI or HDMI - then use Fool Control to gain more precise access. I don't think I could work like this exclusively, though. It seems that relying on Fool Control for the majority of filming would be a bit tedious - I would miss the touchscreen access. But we all have our own flavor of likes. ;)

For sure! The sidekick looks like it's going to be a great addition too... Or maybe the rumored side handle!

You can buy only the A&B Lemo adapters from Red, and buy cable from 3rd party, especially when thinking in the length dept. These days you can even get them for a little over $100 on Amazon. That puts you in the 500 range for the setup.

That's an economical solution that makes more sense vs. the full kit, and would keep the kit smaller than having a second monitor via SDI. Thanks.

Turning my head too. I ordered them as part of the Raven package... but thinking that the sidekick + a Small HD 502 for the AC for pulling focus and a 702 or DP7 OLED for the DP (depending on the situation) might make more sense.

The mounting options on the 4.7 seem too limited. And I'm worried about the screen being a tad too small.

can anyone post a link of a third party adapter for this? $700+ seems pretty crazy just to be able to mount your screen away from the body...
