  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tethering Port

Would be great with a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port to really use the full potential of this feature.

Most likely SMB/CIFS:
R3D's Written off camera. Either to your laptop drive or an external drive hooked up through your Thunderbolt/USB 3.0 port on your laptop.

Most likely SMB/CIFS:

Are you responding to me or Mattias? SMB runs over 10Gbe great. Also I already figured out that it was UDP over 1113.

Gavin, have you heard anything from RED regarding a possible 10-Gigabit Ethernet port? Very hard to get an answer.
The whole tethering feature seems very crippled with a maximum data rate of just 100-110 MB/s.

No, I'm sure if they're working on it there is only a handful of people who know. But both Weapon and Dragon have a full bandwidth RAW pipe which is what the 4k Broadcast module uses + a debayer chip. So theoretically you could make a crazy module that acts like a locally mounted drive over 10Gbe. But it would be a very very expensive module based on the engineering necessary. Mark Pederson would be the man to ask about Weapon since he's already got Weapon module designs in the works. He would know if it's possible to make a 10GbE module.

If I was to design a module though it wouldn't be 10g it would be a 2GB/s PCIe SSD Raid combined with 802.11ac. Record to the ultrahighspeed RAID then offload in between takes.
