  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

teradek bolt

Personally I think there is a place in the marketplace for both products, and keep your eyes on PARALINX as we are not sleeping if you know what I mean.

rightly so - two different products, different features, different pricing.
Both have their place.

Personally, connectors/connections are my priority, given the range is good enough. Saw it at IBC and am convinced qualitywise - so far.

So I am trying to decide right now whether to get Teradeck Bolt or Camwave? Which should I get? We've had trouble with Camwave in the past. Bolt looks good, but has anyone actually used it?

Tested it on ibc, i like it it. Has quite a good range, the transmitter is a little bit heavy because of the built in battery, but comes in a nice sturdy enclosure and alot of mounting holes, good power range input and hd-sdi loopthrough, and transmitting to multiple receivers. Lemo powerconnector is also nice, i think this unit is a winner!

Seeing the Bolt in person, the zero latency is accurate (it's not performing on-the-fly H264 compression like Teradek's other products) and definitely attractive. I was torn between it and The Brik, with its streamlined design for DSMC and proxy recording ability, but the Brik's latency factor (6-8 frames) makes Bolt the winner for me.

When is Bolt going to hit the streets? Can we order now?

you can't order yet, and i thought they were aiming for end october, aldough i think they didn't have a real date set yet.

Does the BOLT also transmit audio? Since Pro IO HD-SDI now outputs audio..
Arrows HDMI transmits audio, pros
build v3.2.19: Added Pro IO HD-SDI audio on PREVIEW and PLAYBACK

EDIT: Just got a letter from Teradek "Yes, if the sound is embedded in the SDI feed it does."

avoid the camwave at all costs. it's the most unreliable hd wireless system I've seen to date. I've seen off the shelf hdmi systems for home theaters more reliable than a wavvy.

the standard for big shows is usually Boxx Wireless systems. a lot more expensive, but they are really good. but I'm really gonna keep my eye out on the bolt since it's so much smaller, and having the latest setup is absolutely critical this may be the ticket.

I too am a Cube user that is going to buy the Bolt, I really like the build quality and range, it has been a joy to broadcast to iphones and iPads for convenience. This the Bolt, I get both the conveinience of adhoc wifi and the zero latency of the point to point system. Seems like it will be the standard on most movie sets in 2013.
