So what is meant for all those that are posting pics and saying, "hey guess what temp I shot at today".

You have probably voided your camera warranty. No you didn't install something you shouldn't have or used a mount that you shouldn't have. You used it below the operating range.

Now if someone from Red is going to respond, I would like you to post something like this, "IF YOU USE THE CAMERA BELOW THIS TEMPERATURE IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY AND YOU WON'T BE ON THE LIST TO TRADE IN YOUR CAMERA!".

Like Jarred said, common sense needs to prevail here. People have been asking for temperature ranges to be published, so we have done so.

The purpose of them is simple - to give the user guidelines under which to operate/store and to temper expectations accordingly. Also, like was stated before by Jarred, you operate the gear/store the gear outside those stated ranges, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. And should you experience temperature-related issues inside those ranges, you contact our tech support team. The mere act of using/storing outside those ranges does not void the warranty, as you state above. The warranty is affected IF damage is caused due to temperature outside those ranges.

Take precautions with your gear when approaching the extremes of the ranges. Again, this is pretty common stuff here when it comes to electronics....

that is pretty general.

Is that like saying a Macbook pro is ok if you spill your coke on the keyboard, cause thats pretty common knowledge. But, what if you have a Panasonic Tough Book? Than what kind of common sense applies to it?

I was under the impression that the RED One was a bit more durable then, "if you operate the camera outside the given range and the cold or heat damages it your warranty is void.".

No matter what kind of precautions you take Brent it is still a gamble.

What if we seal the camera and wrap it in a SPACE ® Brand ALL WEATHER BLANKET? Could we take the camera out and use it at -20 C? Not being sarcastic here, these things are awesome.

If I am going to gamble I like to have as good of odds as possible.

I can't speak with authority since I have no connection to red, and have only used their camera inside at room temperature. But as a general rule, I believe you can use the camera in any situation where you could use a normal laptop, because the camera and the laptop use similar components. Neither the camera nor the laptop is waterproof, fireproof, or unbreakable. My personal interpretation is that if you want to go outside that boundary (be it hot, cold, wet, vibration etc.) it is at your own risk. I'm pretty sure the hard drives are the most sensitive component; cameras recording to flash will be more rugged and by all accounts the camera (apart from the hard drive) is pretty solid mechanically.

I'd be surprised if you could break the camera permanently by getting it too cold, unless it had water condensed in it. If it's too hot, obviously at some point things will melt, but the camera does give you an overtemp warning.
