We shot a teaser for a horror short titled 'The pond' (de vijver) and seems that it worked because we got funded this week.

The teaser was very low budget (under 1000$) and is more commercial than the short will be.

There is a lot of banding and compresion, but this is not visible in the original footage.

Thanks Kobe, forwarded this to the producers of a feature I'm shooting, "this is how you do a teaser guys...." instantly likable character in dire circumstance. well done.

two questions: were you wide open for the shots with her and the lantern, or did it give you enough output to stop down;
did you have any issues with unwanted flares from the point source of the lantern, or was the glass cloudy enough to prevent this?

I should doublecheck with the dop, but I believe we were wide open with almost all the shots. It was very low-budget so we did not have money for a lot of lights.

We did not have problems with unwanted flares. The superspeeds are somewhat softer wide open.
I think it also helped that she did not run around with a candle, but instead with a 'lantern' so the glass of it also softens the flame.

very nice... I forgot about the camera work and lighting, (which was lovely) because the STORY had me - congrats!

Looks great, feels great, I'm gonna watch it!
And the light is awesome.
Tired of those 20k hmi behind trees.
A horror film must be dark!

Wonderful Kobe. We are in the process of developing something very similar. Glad you managed this with minimal budget. Great look. Feaeture quality - well done.

Nicely done....my wife who was sitting next to me reading, said "I don't like whatever scary thing it is that you're watching." She could tell from the music and the one shot she saw of the girl walking with the lantern. Nicely done. :-) Horror films always have you at the edge of your seat if done properly.
