  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

TATTOO

Tatoo LT ProRes looks much better than for example The Social Network MX shots that probably were done with the same grading approach

as a kind of warmer Cooke look (LightIron Cioni/Vertovec MX grading style)

that means image quality wise in terms of resolution/color/DR/latitude Epic has got a better camera than RED1 MX.

Yeah, cause thats a conclusion you can arrive at by looking at two completely different projects, with two completely different goals.

No doubt Epic is better than Red1 MX, but I'm still amazed at some of the ill-informed rubbish you spurt out these days.

Hi Red Team,

Thank you for finding a way for your far away friends to view this. Looks fantastic.. must be amazing on the big screen.. and the story.. my daughter wants to know when the sequel is coming out?

Beautiful job, beautiful camera. Amazing low light with subtle colours everywhere. I haven't seen low light footage looking like that, since... ever, actually.

It played back fine on my k-lite package on windows in WMP-Lite. In WMP it plays great but the sound is out of sync... In quicktime the gamma is completely wrong, and the image is too bright. Thanks, apple!

Great short !
I just LOVE how it was graded !
Congratulations ! One of the best shorts I ever seen (with Cashback I admit).

Two funny things :
1) I didn't install the X264 component but Quick Time opened it and said it was H264.

2) How was that shot made ?

To me it seems that focus isn't the same on the left as it is on the right. Did you do it in post or was it done with a special lens like those Clint Eastwood used... In a movie I can't remember the title... Shame on me... !

Anyway, GREAT short !

Excellent. Love the detail and range of exposure captured.

At the 2:29 mark I see two red dots that seem out of place (kinda looks like laser pointers). They are not there in a similar scene a few scenes afterwards. Is that in the original or did my MacBook Pro add something?
it's the incense embers that are burning like others have mentioned but heeeeey, that's a cry out for continuity!!!! few moments later there's not even residual smoke! gotcha!
Besides that, thanks for the beautiful gift Jarred, especially the 2K version made my day :-)

Split diopter again. This time the split is better hidden in the foreground subjects left arm/torso.

Jarred said it's only going to be online for a couple of days, which is very understandable.

Great project. Drew me in almost right away. Interesting storyline. I hope that what ever short story you guys do with the Fixed lens Scarlet will be just as good. I hope the challenge will be met soon.

i am not blaming the camera,it's just that there something different about the motion and i don't think lack of noise is the reason,go and see THE SOCIAL NETWORK it doesn't has noise or grain added to it but still looks cinematic and shows the motion characteristics that we see in a movie, but this short which ofcourse perfectly shows the capabilities of the camera looks a but videoish to me only and only in terms of motion characteristics and no other aspects......

I highly doubt that if you shoot 24p, 180 degree shutter and then add grain in post there will be any difference in perception of EPIC footage vs film. And then, this one is a short film (unlike "Social Network"), which, besides the difference in length, also means that they probably didn't have a dozen of light & grip trucks lined up outside the set.

Was shot @ 24p? Otherwise, WOW, such an amazing low light performance!

Concept to delivery in 9 days.

Jim

That was amazing. Great work. How long did it take to create this film?

The things I would do to use one of those...

2 days of figuring out what we are going to actually do.. 3 days of prep, 2 days of actual shooting 2 days of post.
