Target and the Anaheim Police department set out to help bring Christmas to underprivileged kids who wouldn't otherwise get any gifts this holiday. Most children only bought 1 gift for themselves, buying most gifts for their families.

Shot for a couple of hours early in the morning, came home and wrote the script, found a VO artist, and edited the spot later that day/evening. So a very quick turnaround. Shoot/edit details below.

Shot on Epic 5K WS - mostly at 23.98, some over crank stuff at 120fps.
8:1 compression
All on the MoVI - tuned up the handheld setting so it wasn't as smooth as I wanted a little more rough/organic feel
Contax Zeiss Lenses - mostly on the 85mm

Edited in FCPX. Graded with imPulz Luts and gorilla grain
Music licensed through the music bed - composer - Tony Anderson (AMAZING composer)

I like your style. What do you use as follow focus, and where do you mount it on the rig? Thumbwheel?

Thanks Joel. This was a one-man-band shoot, so I used my Cinegears wireless follow focus. I grip stick (from Cinevate) mounted it to the top cross-bar of the MoVI, so it acts like a finger wheel until theirs is released. For monitoring I was using my trusty Zeiss Cinemizers as I always do.

Ah like the one from the groupbuy. Cool, I was interested in getting one but since I use mainly canon still lenses, I think it might be better to get an solution that uses their internal motors for focus.
Can you expand your "sensivity" or "range" when working with photolenes with the cinegear follow focus?

And a big thank you for posting a picture!

Like many WFF, the Cinegears will remap your still lens range to the entire range of the follow focus, which is nice and makes pulling focus much easier.
