On the other hand, the Wave feels more like plastic.
The ethernet models are a pain to install quickly.
What's up again, Philipe! I'd buy the Wave because then I could use it with DaVinci too once I got tired of Color's limitations
Seriously, if you're thinking of spending money in a panel, you really should not be using Color. DaVinci is just a ton better.
At the moment, only Wave works with DaVinci (or their $30,000 controller). So it's a no-brainer - get the Wave if you need to work now. But assuming MC Color will work with the DaVinci soon, here's my comparison:
MC Color has much nicer trackballs. But connectivity is more of a pain (ethernet plus power). And the displays show less. There are a lot of hotkeys. Plus you'll need to get the MC Transport as well (otherwise you have to use the right-hand transport to jog-scroll).
On the other hand, the Wave feels more like plastic.
My bet is that come NAB 2011 or 2012 one of the two companies will come out with a v2 of their product and it'll rule the roost
Or JL Cooper could actually make something cheap?
