  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tamron 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Aspherical on RED1

How do you like your Zacuto EVF mount? Looks solid.

It's solid and cheap but only worked when I put 3-4 cm long (short 15mm rod) taken from my Vocas mate box left over rods extension kit.

You can see that short rod between EVF and camera on the above picture and is turned 90 degrees to the lens.

Zacuto's provided rod was about 10 cm log and it would "touch" the lens in my set up.

They should think about that too.

Also quick zoom out test with audio from today at late afternoon, @ f/5.6, 320 ASA, ND 2 and Circ-Pola screw in Hoya filters,
direct export to H264 at the "selected duration"/copy/paste to new file from 1K QT R3D proxy file.
No any CC or processing in RedAlert or RedCine. Everything directly exported from QT proxy.

Sanjin,

What is the Red Drive looking device with the cords attached to it? The module on the right side if your looking at the back of the camera.
Thanks,

Mike

Yea, I noticed and liked how you used the black rod to bring it forward. I don't guet how it was touching before but don't bother trying to explain. I don't want to keep bugging you. I think they expect you to use other pieces with it, but they should have it bundled with the extra pieces from the get go.

BTW, most of the handling noise will gone one once you get the shock mount set up. The louder noise isn't the sound of your fingers brushing against the lens but the vibrations which are transferred though the hard mount. A more directional shock mount would help the remaining noise but would won't even compare to getting rid of the vibrations.

That is a long zoom for no optical stabilization. I wonder what you could do about that, but I guess there is nothing aside from post stabilization or a set of gyros and a battery belt. Maybe if you could get some VR lenses working...??? There wouldn't be a way to make that work though, right?

Thanks Roberto. Haven't seen one yet up here in Green Bay. The pic in the Red Store didn't show the side ports. Love the rig. What does this setup weigh?
