In this context an SDK would allows 3rd parties to interface with RED's own software tools, to build additional functionality / plug-ins etc.

A well documented SDK really opens up opportunities for very specific and custom tools.

there is a lot of people visiting red forum and a lot of them already registered
as reduser but they are not
..i think registeration rule suppose to be adjusted
i know that redteam are so busy mabye some one of our online Moderators have a time to do it .
we need filteration ..i think there is a lot of thousands registered users
but they are few realy users( those have reservation numbers)
it suppose to be no one can POST
UNLESS HE has serial number..
Some people making this forum as teaching school for them they went
in and out
1- asking a lot of questions
2 -discussing with others
3- posting bad things and so much more
i don't want for this forum to be blocked in front of people faces
no problem let everybody read read only no posting allowed only for real users(buying red)
this will help a little bit reducing numbers of people chating here. thanks

I hear what you saying Bassam and how much it may sting in your eyes he is posting it on the job/equipment forum. So technically he's not doing anything wrong. It might seem annoying that thanks to RED the used equipment market has become a good business (especially lenses) but it's also of a benefit for us RED owners that we have this forum and get these offers.

You are perfectly right
but there is this magnificent tool "ignore list" that can help a lot
and also many future users are not buyers !
So we do have to live with this very democratic process for the best !
Otherwise it would become a kind of select private club, would you like that?
Sometimes I learned a lot on this forum , not only from the Red team or the Ninjas or David Mullen but also from very naive questions from people who are not expert in film or video...

Some of the most knowledgeable and helpful people on the forum are not going to be buying but renting. Ownership alone shouldn't confer any special privileges. What you contribute to the forum in a positive way is the only meaningful measure of your true value here.

As Leon said - just use the "ignore" tool!

This seems to happen everywhere. There is a guy on the Steadicam Forum who uses it like his personal storefront. I've seen him buy from someone else (generally low balling the price) and turn around and put it back on the site at a way higher price the the original seller was asking. Saves a bundle on ebay fees. Oh well that's free enterprise I guess.

There are many people (me for example and many others) who do not now, and probably never will, own a RED camera, or have a reservation, but still have a very real need to work with it in another capacity (think also of all the people who will be renting the cameras and need to ask questions).

A public internet forum can be a nasty place, but the best way to deal with that is not to feed the trolls, and to stick to business. If someone wants to come in here and say that none of you know what the hell you're talking about (which, incidentally, none of you do!) then just ignore them, let it go and maybe a moderator will kill it.

Closing the forum from full public participation will just frustrate a lot of people who have very real need to talk about RED, or jut a good solid interest in it.

People will try to sell things here from time to time, as long as they're good about it, don't go spamming their wares in inappropriate forums and threads and aren't ripping people off then I see no harm in it, and hopefully if the deals are good the it actually brings benefit to users.

Well said. With red having a huge post aspect and workflow data wrangling aspect as well. Many who work in post need to learn about red and will have valid feedback to provide but often will not own or even use a Red camera
