Tactical Hand Controller backorder; what can we really expect?

So we have every other piece of this gear ready to go with our RED Epic Mysterium-X. Right now the WMD and motors just sit in our RED case and look pretty. Once in a while we'll take them out, rig them to the camera, sit around and say 'boy that looks nice, wish it worked. I wonder when the controller we bought 4 months ago for it all will ship out'. Then go pay $600 a day to do the same thing that we already paid over $10,000 to do... Then think to ourselves, 'man, we could be making that money'

This is the primary frustration plaguing the production company.

The primary question is, does anyone have any info as to WHY the controllers have yet to ship? Was there a major manufacturing defect leading to a bunch of these being recalled? Is our rep just not doing his job?

I look on the website and it says 'usually ships within 3-5 days' I wish the one we bought 4 months ago would.

First off, I would like to apologize for the sarcastic and cynical language of my earlier post. Being on the forefront and pioneering cinema production in Louisville Kentucky, we're feeling the pressure. While that was a rant, here's the heart of the matter. After a very successful shoot of Roman Citizen (trailer coming soon!), the features and series are starting to roll in, and we need to be ready. Currently the film community is working with legislature to establish tax incentives for production, and our goal is to become a major cinema production hub. We're already behind RED, believe in what they do, and would love to establish a closer working relationship with the company. The potential for everyone involved is huge, and that's why small matters like this while being promised 'soon' for several months are frustrating.

RED as a company; Love it, can't say that enough. Any company so closely tied to it's user base that's willing to listen to and address complaints is amazing in my book. While relatively young, they are still working out the delicate balance between is it perfect and is it in the hands of our customer base. We get that.

RED as a camera; Love it, as the most scientifically accurate image capture device, allowing you essentially a clean slate of digital footage that allows amazing room for manipulation of the look. Although the downside to this being it's handling needs to be performed just as scientifically, or it shows...

It's still a camera and a company I promote when I get the chance, and will continue to.

Josh, checked our production report and we are awaiting a component for the T.H.C. Looks like we should be all caught up by end of this month on orders currently in the system. My apologies on the delay and I understand your frustration, very valid.

Ugh, supply chain issues. I can see how this would be just as frustrating for you guys as well. Thanks for the reply and a little insight into the issue, sometimes the slightest detail as to why is all we need to understand and accept what's going on.

Just got the email that our Tactical Hand Controller has shipped! Right around the time estimated by Brent. Thank you Red for providing us updates and not just leaving us in the dark about the issue. :thumbup1:

Red has come through and the Controller is now here! I wanted to say thanks guys.

Now I just need to power the WMD, but since ET wants over $250 for a Ptap to 1B lemo, I'll probably make one instead. LOL

Hey, sorry this took almost a month. It's been a busy month... Anyhoo Got the thing wired up and everything crammed into the Ronin. I ordered a 1-b Lemo and soldered it to a P-tap to run the WMD off the ronin AUX power ports, along with the paralinx arrow.
