Cool!

I was wondering where we could find this stuff. Have you tried any of the rails with Red AKS to see if they work? I know they are supposed to in theory....

I haven't, yet! I was hoping to pick up a simple strap adapter to test them out. For $9 it is worth the risk, hahaha.

It's too bad most of those accessories wouldn't work with the system (scopes, bipods, perpendicular handles, etc.). However that seems to be a great resource for buying the actual rails. $14 vs RED's $100... I'm sure there will be quality differences but it doesn't hurt to have options.

I'm using a compact tactical bipod with my EPIC. And it F-ing rocks. ...Just sayin'

Yeah, I'll take a pic and post in a couple days -- EPICs are out working.

There's a bit of secret sauce involved, but to simplify, I'm using the bottom-half of a clamp-on barrel mount w/ rails. It's attached to a piece of aluminum that I welded between two 15mm (60mm "video" spaced) rods. For now, the camera attaches to the RED QR baseplate and I'm using the 15mm lightweight adapter bolted to the front of that to hold my "gunner" rig. I can put handles up front and/or a bipod or whatever else can attach to the rails. The bipod is super handy for shooting from tables, tops of walls, crawling on the ground.

I've also bought some extra rail pieces in various lengths and tapped a couple extra 1/4-20's in them to align with RED bolt spacing. I'm usually on RED's side when it comes to accessory pricing, but I can't for the life of me figure out why they're charging $100 for a 100mm piece of aluminum NATO/Picatinny/Weaver/STANAG rail. WTF? Every decent gunsmith or firearms store will sell you that piece for less than $10 and many of them will do minor adjustments or tap a couple holes for cheap. Even free if you're a regular customer....

Anyway, love that I can pull a grip or bipod or whatnot off an AR-15 and clamp it on my camera. ;)

Cool man, yeah would love to see how that work, I am considering taking a welding and CNC machining class just so I can begin making some of my own mods. When I was riggin more as a young lad, I would sometimes put things together with PVC piping, but that isn't good enough anymore. Would even turn my livingroom into a small mill... Just gotta find somewhere to start. More nuts and bolts is one of my few complaints, I wish they had more of a specific selection. As for the price, I think Red should be able to get the money from people who can afford, it's either that or the price increase in camera alone will go up. Think of it as off-setting the cost of the gear. I hear ya' but I know why they do it, and I would do the same thing.

Are you talking about the Swat rail 100mm? And thats what you were saying is at most firearms stores?

It seems that RED rails are the old Picatinny rails rather than NATO. Why didn't you do NATO rails when it's the new standard that replaced Picatinny and is better and has longer life span? At least it looks in this picture that the clamp's roof isn't connected with the rail roof:

edit: or is it your clamps that are locking the old way?
