  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I've been installing RCXP on an Intel i5 laptop but haven't yet been able successfully to begin using the software. It installs but only recognizes the built-in mouse (not the Graphire3 tablet mouse) and then when I try to perform an action, it fails. I've submitted a list of bug reports to the email addresses I found in threads on RedUser, but I wanted to check to see what really is the minimal requirements of a system to be able to run RCXP.

I've seen other notes indicating that the laptop I'm trying it on should be capable of running it, but there's something I'm either not doing, not seeing, not configuring correctly or just not having....

Hi Chris,

We'd have to add specific software support for the Graphire if I'm not mistaken, so that's why it isn't recognized. If anyone has had a different experience with this, I'd love to hear about it.

You should be ok with an i5 processor. At the very minimum you can probably get away with a dual core processor, 2 GB of ram and a graphics card that supports OpenGL 2.1 or greater, but it probably won't be a great experience.
I've had several reports of the Intel HD Graphics not working very well, but the latest drivers should support OpenGL 2.1. All our testing is done on ATI and nVidia cards.

I'd recommend at least 4GB of ram and a quad core processor. RCXP is more CPU intensive right now than GPU intensive, but over time we plan on moving more stuff to the GPU.

Did you send your list to redcinex at red dot com? I looked but could not find it.

Thanks for the info - I'll check the PC and see where I'm below spec, I'm sure somewhere. I sent it to both aliases (redcine and then redcinex when I realized my error) - I have the bundle that I sent and will forward again if you'd like.
