I received a bunch of DNxHD 115 MXF files that I have to sync the audio with.

What workflow is better, Avid or Redicine X?

As an aside, I'm already having trouble getting Avid Media Composer 6 to even recognize the MXF files in the first place. I drag adn drop the files into the Avid MEdia Files folder>MXF>1. But then when I try to import into Avid, it say cannot import this file...

Syncing is best done inside MC. You should not import the MXF files, as they are probably Avid Mediafiles. This means you have to drop them into your media files folder, which should be labeled something like 'X:/Avid MediaFiles/MXF/n', where 'X' is any media drive and 'n' is any integer number (like '1'). Note that this folder needs to live on the root of your media drive or partition, no subfoldering will work.

If the MXF media files came with an ALE or AAF, use that to bring the clip data into your bin(s). If not, open the Media Tool inside MC, make it index the files on the media drive where you placed your MXF files, and the clips should pop up there. Drag them into one or more bins.

Next, use the regular import method to bring in your sound and use either TC or Marks to AutoSync.

Yes, the MXF files came with both ALE and AAF files. I did drag and drop all three into my Avid Media Files folder that was created by Avid in my root Project folder.

It was shot on a Red Epic, so I suppose I'll have to use the slates for TC because it won't be able to autosync from a Red camera, right?

There's no reason that you would not be able to AutoSync Red footage, other than if they did not shoot with common TC. So basically: yeah, what MichaelP says :D
