Syncing an Audio Recorder

So, if I read correctly the Red syncs time code with an audio recorder in two major ways. Either it can become a slave to the device or it can assert its own timecode. To do this I enter the time code menu and select Jam Sync and Cross correct?

Any advice on recording audio for Red?
