When we used this once... we jammed it off a lock it box... Never off camera. Also it would drift continually... not a good solution for a smart slate IMHO

I tried following two but no luck.

Has anyone here used any synch cable for the Movie Slate iPad/iPhone app with Epic (successfully)?
Any tricks? (lol)

I do it all the time. I just found a cable that has the headphone jack to 3 rca's. It was some sort of RGB cable. Put an RCA to BNC adapter on the blue connector and voila, works every time. I'm always syncing 3 Scarlets with sound.
how did I find out it was the blue connector? Trial and error...

Which direction are you trying to send the timecode? The Epic brain does not have a TC output. You can get TC out of the Movie Slate, but an additional plugin is needed.

Hey Dave,

I have TC out plugin for Movie slate.
I am trying to send out TC from iphone to Epic Rear Synce port using following cable but no luck

Correction: I am using TC out from iPhone (via headphone jack) to EPIC rear Synce port

There is a IOS 6 bug using that, so make sure you don't upgrade your ipad(keep it at 5). I've had another issue similar with another product that is doing something like that on the ipad, so my guess is the problem is on the apple side and not the app side (caused weird wireless network problems on set that almost freaked me out).

iOS 6.1 fixed the problem: http://www.movie-slate.com/FAQs/10412/

This cable works: http://www.kvconnection.com/product-p/km-iphone-bnc-a22.htm

I just re-read the site ... they say they have a fix for it now if your on 6.1 ... http://www.movie-slate.com/FAQs/10412/ ... problems like this made me swear off using on the ipad on set (i know a lot of people are into that ... i use to even do my focus control wirelessly ... i got rid of all that crap).

Hmmm... You're sending the TC to the Epic rear "headphone" jack? With the slate cable and a BNC to 4 pin LEMO adaptor I synced my Scarlet to the slate app before. If you're using the rear Epic headphone jack I guess I'm not sure what you're trying to do.

My mistake, Sorry for confusion.
What I meant,

That should work. There is a sequence of set up steps on Movie Slate to get it go out. Are you following that?

Double check that the timecode source is selected as Brain and not rear module in the Epic menus. Settings->Project->Timecode

when you say it does not work, what are the symptoms? Does TC icon not go green?

Which color BNC on the cable are you using? it should be the Yelllow one.

The cable should work fine. Make sure you turn up the HP level on iPhone or iPad. TC needs to be at high level for this to work.
