No, this isn't a solution to showing clients 4k plates, but I found it really useful.

Was looking at Basecamp to build a client review/aproval site for cuts, clips, etc.

Turns out there is a super simple option out there called xprove.

www.xprove.com

Great features, you can customize with your logo, etc.

I have no connection to them -- just was super impressed that there was an easy, ready made answer.

this looks interesting. My only problem with services like this is the upload time. Are you uploading to an FTP site or similiar?, because uploading larger files through your browser is a pain.

We tried their service (xprove.com), and it had a lot of problems. The customer (A major music company) also found the system was way to slow and we still couldn't upload anything that was high enough quality to allow them to judge color correction, etc. The concept is good, but for many applications the internet itself just isn't there, and when it is, you won't need the service.

We ended up doing an online status indicator so that the client new the status of every project and when they should expect a tape (we were doing around 3 short shoots per day for them) for review for a given project.
