Yuck. It's bigger and heavier than my 17" HP notebook, which barely qualifies as "portable". 18.4" screen, yet only 1080p - WTF? Is that a typo? Strange keyboard layout. The designer obviously has trouble finding the Enter key, so he took care of that for himself. Most new CF readers nowadays are UDMA... Nice to see it has an eSATA port.

I bet the screen sucks. Probably < 8bit and has glare like a mofo...

These are a new 16/9 models for notebooks. If you liked the transition from 4/3 to 16/10, you might really like this. I first checked this on Acer's models since they were the first ones to come out with this type of screens and let me tell you that this is the first time I don't feel bad for the resolution. I love 16/9 feel on a notebook.
Less bulky and just better IMO.

Sweet! thats definately a Macbook Pro, 1066 FSB Core 2 Duo with a 9600M. Definitely a MAcbook Pro.

I have been cursing apple for not having an e-sata port, looks like I'll just buy a PC laptop and use Mac OS X anyway, Since apple doesn't know how to make a PC laptop right.

...Not complaining about 16:9 aspect. That's fine. I'm complaining about the size vs. pixel density. 18.4" and it has less screen real estate than a 17" MBP.

IMO, if it had a 2560x1440 (16:9) screen, that would be awesome. For me, the size here is not a selling point. Maybe it is for some people, but to me this is like buying a 17" MBP and only getting the 1680x1050 LCD. :meh:

is the new macbook pro announcing today or on the 26th or at all. What is going on......

Don't know about the new macbook pro... But Apple announced the new iPod nano.

Totally agree! If they can do a 15.4" 1920x1080 screen there's no reason they can't do a 20" 2560x1440 one.

And I'm sure they could get the densities better now and do a 18" one...

Now why doesn't high PPI affinity surprise me coming from you two... :-)
I totally feel the same and would also love the pixel count boost. What makes this tricky on a notebook is the lack of total resolution independence. That stubborn decision of window scaling on lower right only (on a "most advanced OS ever") also doesn't help.
