Hi,

I am looking for a riser for the sliding top handle ... do you guys think this could work?

http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-MNT-ML108.htm

is "swat rail" an industry norm?

Does anybody already use a swat rail riser? looking for a solid option that won´t break under
a heavy loaded epic.

thanks for your help!
Florian

Yes, as far as being able to mount RED components on 3rd party swat rails, it should work out fine. I have a few bits in my kit that were originally intended for mounting on rifles, and haven't had a problem using them on RED swat rails. As far as I know, the NATO or SWAT rails are industry standard.

As far as that part being able to handle to hold up to the stress of what you're using it for... I have no idea.

In my experience Airsoft rail components are generally weaker than rail accys manufactured for real guns. I would pay extra for rail parts made for real firearms. Doubly so if you are lifting your camera with it.

Hi Flo. You can also search for Picantinny risers. Like these:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=a9_sc_1...ywords=picatinny+riser&ie=UTF8&qid=1394397902

I've been using my 1" Picantinny riser along with my sliding Red Handle for 2+ years with no problem, and LOTS of stress.

Beware that some SWAT / NATO / PICANTINNY risers will only mount to rails with SLATS (aka, grooves) in them, as seen in the Red NATO rails. Other manufacturers, like Zacuto, have omitted these slats in favour of smooth SWAT rails.

Another plus with the RED, Picantinny, WC etc are that they are longer and you can screw in screws at the ends to act as stops so that your handle doesnt slide off. The WC has stops built in too. A small riser like you posted, to me, would be more suitable for something other than a handle.

You need to be very careful with using off the shelf NATO rail components. The reason is that the way they clamp on to the rail is v very different mechanism. Most Nato parts have recoil compensator, or a small rod that runs from front to back across the rail. This rod then mates up with a specific slot in the NATO rail. These slots can be sen on mount NATO rails and they take the form of parallel cuts in the surface. That exactly what the cuts are there for . They are there for one purpose, so that when you fire a weapon the sight, or weapon attachment does not move at all. However Red does not seem to use the cuts because they have no reason for recoil compensation. I think I saw the cuts on the gunner and the swat rail pieces them selfs, but not every part Red makes. Just a heads up. Make sure that the component you are mounting to DOES have the cuts outs.
