  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SURVEY for Allstar 18-35 zoom lens

He has already stated he's only going to do one, and he's waiting for the Sigma F2.

We can make full rehousing on Nikon or other brands without modify focus ring first, that isn't too hard. I want to do full rebuild on lenses that I think they are valuable, because it's more complicate.

Id go for the 5000 USD version.

However Id prefer the Nikon 24 70 and also 17 35. Focus rotation is important to us.

Full rebuild. I prefer to buy a lens I.d never think of replacing.

Hi Tom!

Ideally, I'd also be interested in a Nikon 24-70mm rehouse, along the same lines you did with the Nikon 80-200mm.

Do you think a project like this has compromises? Not happy with the 24-70mm stock lens?

Take care my friend,
George

Well we really need is a solid replacement for the 50 to 150 Red zoom

This was a Sigma 50 to 150 rehouse wasn't not?

50 - 150 would be awesome

Tom,

I'd prefer 5k with expanded focus scale if it's a reliable cam based solution like cookes, for 2k more it could be done...

About the 50-150 range...trust me, if you want a solid base for that range, look @ the Tokina 50-135 f2.8,

it's UNBELIEVABLE, it breathe quite a bit but it's insanely sharp & with a very nice bokeh!

Much better than the Sigma 50-150!!

Hi guys,
We decided to make both types of 18-35mm:

1. 18-35mm Lite
Front diameter: 95mm / 72mm thread
Focus turning angle: 120 degrees
0.8 pitch gears on focus, zoom and iris
changeable stainless steel mount system with PL, Canon and Nikon mount
Price hasn`t be 100% decided, the modification will be similar to our 80-200 lens, so maybe it will be priced at $2900-2700USD

2. 18-35mm Cinema
Front diameter: 95mm / 72mm thread
truly "new re-designed" focus structure ,focus turning angle is over 300 degrees
0.8 pitch gears on focus, zoom and iris
changeable stainless steel mount system with PL, Canon and Nikon mount
Price will be around $5000USD

Lite version will be first. We will divided our lens products into two line: Lite and Cinema. The main difference between them is focus structure, lite version will keep the original focus structure like other rehousing lens in the market. Cinema version will re-build focus structure to get precise focus.

nice, smart.

This is a very cool lens, not like anything available today cinema or stills glass. Im not sure how they made it this fast and sharp and contrasty. It seems to defy optical physics somehow.

Wow! Sounds great!! :) When do you think you'll be ready for delivery?
Do you have plans on re-housing Leica-R lenses anytime soon? ;)

And I don't know if it's overkill, but what about a 114mm front diameter? All my PL lenses are that size, I imagine that to be true to a lot of people...

The Allstar site is rather sparse. :-( Is there more info available about the 70-200 and 50mm that are there? What are the base lenses they are built on? Thanks.
