  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Surprise...

I was wondering what the 'jittering' effect in some of the panning shots and cars driving by is... Is that because of H.264 compression, or playback issues on my machine

I'm playing MBP (2007, 2,1Ghz + 2GB RAM) and experience some issues in the fluidity of the playback on my 52' TV (but still awesome) ; not such problem with the 2008 Mac Pro (8X 2,8Ghz + 10GB RAM).

Bill Jones : I believe that Plastercity did the grading all job by himself (he explained his workflow previous pages in this thread). The shooters gave RAW to Red Team.

Plastercity did an incredible job on the grade.. to match the entire reel together.

That is just one of those hidden benefits of capturing everything RAW... even though some of the clips in the shot may of been heavily processed for its intended application quite differently, when Plastercity gets all the raw files and throws them all together for the online, they can click the reset button and make a common grade.

Doh! Thats makes sense.

Wow, even the quadcore 2.8 Mac Pro with 14 GB ram produces the same effect. Must be the cheap memory :embarassed:
Gotta buy one of those new I7's then...

For what it's worth, it plays back beautifully on my 2.33Ghz MBP - I'm pretty sure I upgraded my RAM with some cheapo stuff, too.

The same here. Unibody MBP 17'' 2.66GHz 8GB ram. Smooth playback. BTW great reel!

Also: iMac 20" 2GHZ Core Duo (white plastic model), 3GB RAM - smooth playback.

Thanks guys. It's a 2007 model (2,4ghz, 4gb), so that would probably qualify as old, even though it still feels new.. :) Jarred, you reckon that's the case?

And to Jim: of course it looks great! My remark wasn't meant as a negative comment; just to learn if and what's not right with my viewing methods. Red One doesn't fit my budget, but I definately will hop on the Red train when Scarlet gets out. Reading the board, I can say I'm lucky having a wife that's as crazy about what you guys are doing as I am! :)

Will try the new Mac Pro at work today to see if the problem disappears.

Thanks,

Tim

I have the exact same laptop and it plays smoothly without problems. Do you have any antivirus software working, or how full is your HDD?

Red proud!!!

Red proud!!!

Holy crap just found this - can't stop watching it totally mesmerized!!!

Sitting here feeling proud for all you guys that so masterfully captured that beauty, the RED team for enabling ALL of this and more and Plaster City for adding the final touch of magic.

ps what's that haunting music at 2:37???

Thank you Jarred. It's been difficult to cull together diverse "shot on Red" pieces up until now, to show producers/ clients.
This will really help show off the camera to people.
Cheers,
Harry

They actually added sound that wasn't in some shots as well. For example, the plane dumping fire retardant.

Our shots:

Mountain with lake
Plane dumping fire retardant
Fireworks (I'm 90% sure this is ours)

Great job and thanks for using our footage!

Great Reel, was fun seeing it in 4K and all the projects that have been 'Shot on RED®' (really would love to see the outtakes from the reels too....)

Mammoth HD is very pleased to be a part of RED's Reels (1-4) and look forward to many more. Thank you -> Jim, Ted and Michael and all the RED team and PlasterCity, and of course Steve for putting together a wonderful event.

This years MammothHD/RED clips include the Blue Angels, Lincoln Memorial (timelapse columns), the closeup wheat, the sunlight/fog thru the Redwoods and the Fireworks....

Still getting over the peek at 4K via REDRay.. and the implications!
