Support for Red Shoot in Hampshire, UK

:help: We're shooting a very low budget short next weekend (Fri-Mon) on a farm in Hampshire, near Portsmouth. Managed to hire a RED for a good deal, but unfortunately the lovely guys who've hired us the camera can't be around to offer any tech support. Just a bit concerned that, reading the woes on these pages, we are going to get caught out with a technical hitch that blows our schedule. Anybody in the area able to be at the end of a 'phone, or fancy coming out to a lovely farm location to see the camera in action and offer some tech support?

I would not want to be in your shoes! It might go swimmingly and I hope this is the case, but to hire a camera like this from someone who is not going to be around? Sounds real odd to me. Tell me you've got crew together who know how the camera works, what build your running and what to do with the footage when you've finished! There are plenty of people out there who have RED experience. Post for good crew to assist you methinks!

A camera system is only cheap if you get the results you want.

If you know what you`re doing with lenses, focus and exposure etc, I think you can relax a bit. Just remember that the joystick (that you navigate the lovely menus with) can twist ie, twist the knob at the end to change the desired setting. Finding this out has taken me five hours of confusion today and a Reduser post to discover. Now I can navigate (and change!) project settings, the camera seems pretty intuitive, but rememeber to print out an R1 manual and get it hole punched and in a folder before you start as a backup plan!
