looking for support brackets for red 300mm-

i have an arri mb20, 19mm rods as usual.

any ideas?

I think Duclos makes a support post for the 300. try calling them.

Call Birns and Sawyer. They have a killer new bridge for 15 or 19 rods and we demoed it on our red at Cine Gear this weekend in their booth. It holds larger lenses very well and it has a clever snap on adapter with lateral and vertical adjustment rings. Steve Tobenkin will hook you up. It's brand new so it's not on their site yet.

Okay, normally I would agree. But, when I received my 300, I found there wasn't anything included for support. I called RED. I was told it would be fine.

I attached the lens. It has worked just fine, no noticeable wear on the mount. Mounts and unmounts just fine.

can someone of red confirm this here?

thanks for info

What a lot of people do is put a UNIVERSAL MOUNT under the 300mm and thread a bolt through the UNIVERSAL MOUNT up into the 300mm support hole. Same threading, so works like a charm.

yes that was my thought today, just put a bolt in it. havin no 300mm here but remember that hole.

thanks

3/8 up through the center universal mount hole, match up with the 300mm collar support insert.

You dont really think that this "wear" is going to be visible do you?

The lens is heavy which puts undue strain on the PL mount, which will affect its proper alignment...its not something that you can see.

You should never mount a long/heavy zoom or prime on the front of a body (Red or otherwise) w/o proper support.

We currently use Brent's method until a better solution comes along.
