I'm renting a set of primes for a Red One camera set to shoot in 2K 2:1. What's the widest I can get without too much lens distortion?
Should I just use lenses that will cover the super 16 format?

---I think I found the answer. When shooting in 2K, super 16 lenses should work fine. When mixing formats 4k and 2k, it's wise to keep a wide super 16 lens on hand for any wide shots in 2K.

BTW- I'm only shooting 2K for the varispeed options. Otherwise, I'd only shoot in 4K.

Thanks for the responses...Building the package today.

Optar Illumina do a nice 8mm T1.3 16mm lens, that doesn't have a lot of distortion. Nice and wide.

Will a lens that is wide at 4k not be as wide at 2k?

We just used a 14mm lens at 2k and were surprised by how "not wide" it seemed...

A 14mm on 4K is 83 degrees (diag) on 2K it is just 47 degrees

14mm at 2k would be the same as a 25mm on 4k.
