  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Super slow rendering in CS5.5 with native R3D files

If you use RED a lot, try not to do linked compositions, it will seriously halt your production. Just export a 4.5k DPX sequence (or copy the files from the Premiere timeline to an AE project), forget linking the comps. That will slow down the renders to a halt.

A just did a 4k grade in AE, but I rendered DPX files out of Premiere to AE. That way, it all works out. And is fast. Nothing to do with Colorista or Looks, everything to do with dynamic linking.

What format would you render out to 1080p to then apply Colorista to? DPX? We're mostly shooting 4k on the Red and our final output is 1080p or 720p for web delivery. I'd rather not color grade 4k footage if I don't have to. Thanks.
