I've heard a lot of responses on how to improve quality and sharpness at 2K. One of which has been to use Super 16 lenses at 2K. I know there are many other reasons besides lenses that lead to a softened image, but I'd love to hear any first hand accounts or examples of Super 16 lenses at 2K.

Preferably specific to the Epic and not Red One or MX.

Well, one approach would be to shoot 3K. :-) I've outlined the S16 workflow in a couple of other threads, and it's nice and sharp.

Epic does 150fps in 3K.

+1 to shooting 3K for S16 glass. Many of the wider lenses won't fully cover, but it gives you a chance to crop/reframe and grab more pixels for downsampling than if you just lock yourself into shooting 2K. Sharp lenses definitely help a lot when shooting 2K, but you don't automatically guaranty yourself sharper lenses just by choosing S16 glass. Many of the best 35mm lenses are equally sharp (some even more so) in the centers than a lot of S16 options.

I have not had any S16 lenses on EPIC personally. I have shot with various S16 lenses on the RED One, the last set being the S16 Illuminas. Pretty nice lenses, but I still think the RPP's and Master Primes have superior sharpness and geometry, even cropped in at 2K.

When shooting RED One, EPIC, Scarlet... The only reason to shoot 2K, ever, is if you absolutely need the higher frame rates you can't get at larger frame sizes.

Yeah I would love to shoot 3K but unfortunately for these set of shots I absolutely need to shoot 300 FPS. Will be slowed down even further so I need all the frames I can get.
