We're proud to announce that LocaRed will be holding its summer Red Bootcamp on the week of July 14th in Paris.
This new date has been set so that Build 16 can be covered in detail all the way from filming through post production.
We'll be using several of our 10 full Red camera packages including various lens sets (Elite, Cooke, Zeiss, Angenieux, Red,…) along with several post-production stations including Scratch real time 2K.
Our facility provides a wide range of setups (from studio to outdoors) and we'll take advantage of the city amazing locations like Montmartre or Notre-Dame (no guerilla filming, all permits).
Trainees will be given the possibility to test the camera under all kind of natural environment (true daylight exterior, tungsten interior, artificial daylight HMI,…) and with a wide variety of equipment (steadycam, crane, car mount, stereoscopic rig, motion control, aerial system,…)
Various film professionals like comedians, make-up artists, SFX and pyrotechnicians will also be present during this bootcamp to put the trainees and the cameras under real filming conditions.
Sysmic Films will partner with LocaRed for this bootcamp to provide all necessary equipment for post-production of the Red footage during the training. A 4-minute filmout to 35mm from the actual bootcamp Red filming will be done by Sysmic Films and shown to the trainees at the Melies theatre on the last day.
Stereoscopic Red filming will also be covered during the training along with aerial Red filming.
The teachers have various backgrounds in production, cinematography and post-production, all centered around the Red camera and its various workflows. They will be holding the classes in English and all the documents provided during this training will also be in English.
LocaRed and Sysmic Films have been following the Red adventure since 2006 and have been in close connection with the Red and Assimilate teams. Several Red projects have been professionally handled by these two companies in France over the last 8 months since our first camera #88 arrived last October followed by 9 other units.
LocaRed has already done several in depth Red training in Paris since January for French operators and the feedback was just great. This Bootcamp will be done in English to a group of 8 persons maximum, 4 spots are already taken so contact us quickly if interested.
Minimum HD or film camera work experience is required. We can help with finding short term affordable lodging in Paris if necessary. This is also a great time to be in Paris for Bastille day and the light for filming is just amazing!

I will try to post tomorrow some picture from previous bootcamps.
In the meantime here is a little demo of a few projects we shot recently on Red:

Be patient, the video is 5MB, I'll try to optimize quality and speed tomorrow but for now I have to go to sleep...
