Looking for some suggestions on a well priced 7 inch monitor with HD SDI for Epic with good color and sharpness. Under $1000 ideally. Thanks.

also nice is the ikan VX7i, it is very light, image is ok, resolution 1280x800 pixels, IPS panel in new version.
i like the fact that all buttons are on the front : if you build it in a portabrace - par MO-LVM071W - , they are still accesible.
for on-board, its less important where the buttons are.

Thanks guys! These are very good options. Any others?

I'm looking for a monitor as well.

I was looking at that Ikan monitor, along with the D7W version.

What I really want to buy is the Odyssey7 monitor, but it seems like it'll be a while before it comes out. So I'm looking at something for the meantime.

and I found this:

Lilliput 663/s

The price is right, and the chances are that it uses the same panel as Ikan is probably fairly high.

At $640 with free shipping, seems like a great deal.

Anyone tried that Lilliput? Worried it might be a little heavy and bulky because it's metal and has that extra inch around the lcd.

These are older 9 inch, but how is the color reproduction/image quality on these older ones? Thanks! Marshall V-R84DP

Panasonic BT-LH900A

Anyone?

Marshall Monitors suck Balls.

i wouldn't waste your money on older technology either. These things change quite fast.

AC7 with SDI is only $899 and you could likely resell it for what you paid vs. some of the low end stuff.

Thanks for the tip Dan! Never was really that impressed with the SmallHD DP line though. Is the AC line (non-OLED) color reproduction improved?

In my experience I have always been underwhelmed by Small HD and I would not recommend them. They usually have bad gamma curves and fixed noise in the shadows. Probably fine for focusing, but quite bad for color/exposure. I've seen just about every monitor they make and they are getting a little better with each model and firmware, but for the price, I'd have to say its definitely worth just going for another brand like TVlogic which is an industry standard nowadays. Personally I'd say if you can wait, the Odyssey 7/7Q looks like it could be amazing and may obsolete all other ~7" monitors and recorders given its price point and features...

Thanks a lot Noah. Are there any monitors in the sub$1000 range that you would say are better than the SmallHD stuff?

Thanks Bob, but if you only had $1k, what 7" would you pick up?
The difference between smallHD AC7 and the DP7 Pro are light years apart, but so is the price. I tried the DP7 on a recent shoot, and wow, it seriously impressed me.
